How did you choose your date?

I am just curious.  How did you choose your wedding date?

For us, we have had a couple of other dates, but something always ended up not working with it and we had to choose another one.  It got to where we stopped planning for a few years.  Well, almost a year ago, FI comes into our room and asks me if I want to get married next year.  Of course I said yes. (Not our engagement. We have been engaged for six years.) He said to think about a date.  Later that week he comes in and asks me what I thought about July 21 2012.  I told him that was the date I was thinking and that is how we choose our wedding date.

  • When we booked our venue over a year ago it was the first spring/summer date available. We would have gotten married much sooner if it wasn't for our undying love for our venue.

  • We were engaged 11 months after first meeting and a little over 8 months after being "official", so I wanted a year engagement and alwaysenvisioned a summer wedding. We chose the 21st because my birthday is Jan. 21st and Fi's daughter's is May 21st and thought I would make it easy on FI and have our wedding anniversary on the 21st too! Always been a lucky number for me and I like the ring of 7/21/12.

  • Our dating Anniversary is July 16th. Thats the date we wanted but thanks to leap year its a Monday. So we went the the day before, the 15th. Also, as a teacher I knew I wanted a summer wedding so I don't have to worry about work.

  • I looked up in an almanac at the past 20 years of the dates for the weekends in July and August. July 21st in the area that we're getting married had the best record for temp, rain, wind and cloud cover. Watch that one come back and bite me in the ass!

Well, for us it was the process of elimination! We got engaged in December and knew the eariest we could get married would be June. My family competes at dog shows, and June is a busy trail month. My sister works out of state at a college, so August through December is tricky for her to get away for an extended length of time. That left July! My parents got married July 7th, so we decided on the 14th. Kinda wary of getting married in July, but it made the most sense unless we waited til spring of 2013.

  • We wanted a summer wedding and I really wanted June but the venue didn't have any dates available..... So it was either July 21 or August!
  • I'm a teacher so a summer wedding makes the most sense- plus I just always feel more relaxed in the summer so I thought that would be good.

School ends in late June, and with the 4th and my birthday on the 17th, we wanted something after that.  We actually thought about getting married in 2013 but since our parents came through with splitting the cost we were able to do this year- which I prefer since my grandpa isn't in great health.  We looked at late July and early August to see what dates were available at the venue we picked. We initially picked August 4th, which I liked because it was 8/4/12 and even numbers and that the first two numbers add to the third made me happy. But then FI's work said he wouldn't be able to take a honeymoon after that, right before we ordered the STDs. The next earliest Saturday the venue was available was the 28th, so that's what we went with.

  • I have always invisioned an outdoor wedding. And with 4 kids and me still being a full time student it pretty much had to be summer. We were originally planning on June of 2013, but FI kept talking about secretly getting married on paper before that and I thought that was a terrible idea. So we decided we just really wanted to be married sooner. So we tried to pick a date that gave us enough time to plan but enough time after the wedding to go on a long honeymoon. Aug 4 was our first pick, but so many venues were booked so we moved it up a week and I'm glad we did!

  • We wanted either June or July as I am a tax accountant and wanted at least a month after tax season was done to wrap up the small details.  The venue we loved either had June 23rd or July 14th, I really wanted June 23rd but one of my BM's is the MOH in her sister's wedding that weekend, so July 14th it is! It works out better, I'd be so screwed if it was the 23rd of June.

    Anniversary
  • 1) I was out of school.
    2) It was available.
    3) FI thought it sounded nice.

  • FI has three teenagers who are with us 100% of the time.  Incredible kids, but how to take a honeymoon without feeling guilty for leaving these awesome people out.  Well, they all go to summer camps for two weeks at the end of the summer, so we chose the weekend before that to get married.  We will get married and still have a week to pack the kids for camp and us for HM (wherever that may be) and not feel guilty about it.  --We're planning a surprise familymoon for a school vacation next year!

--Oh, and I'm a teacher too so summer was an obvious.
  • Our anniversary is July 28th my birthday. But I didnt want it to be on my birthday. So we decided July 7th because our first venue was available. After we backed out of our first venue we decided to push it back to the 14th. FI gets paid the 10th of every month so we thought 1 more paycheck of help wouldnt hurt.

  • Lol, for us we met at the end of July almost 4 years ago and our first date was in the begining of August). He proposed at the end of July (not as planned lol) so it seemed natural to pick the end of July.
  • I've always wanted an October wedding, but we wanted to go on a longer honeymoon and I'm a teacher. So it just made sense to have a wedding in July. We actually started dating in July.

  • Wellll originally, before we were engaged but already talking about it, we had said May 12, 2012 (last weekend!) but then decided we needed a little more time to save money. So then we were set with August 18, 2012.

Until February, when two of my BMs announced their pregnancies, and that they were due Aug 8th and 23rd. AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! So we went back to our venue and July 14th was the only date available in June/July. It works out though because we got engaged July 13, 2011, which didn't even cross my mind until the new date was set lol

  • At first, we had our hearts set on June 16th 2012. We started dating  Feb 16th 2008. Then fiance proposed on June 16th 2011. It made sense to do our wedding on June 16th 2012 .Coincidencely, one of fiance's cousin (who he never met) also getting married on that very same day and they announced it first. So we have to move it to July, and 7-7 just sound good to us, easy to remember :)
  • July 29,2012 will be our 8 year dating anniversary. Luckily the 29th fell on a weekend this year

  • A bit of process of elimination. We originally had thought we wanted to get married in 2013 but realized we were putting it off to avoid conflicts in everyone else's schedules. So this January we moved it up to this year. We knew we wanted to have a summer picnic theme (and budget) so summer made the most sense. Since our June was already very busy we decided July. The 28th was picked because FI's birthday is the 26th so we just did that following Saturday.

  • We actually were supposed to get married on Labor Day weekend but everywhere we went all the venues were all booked up. So the next month we decided we were going to do was late June, but again everything was booked up so we decided go with July (next available date) for 2012 and hit the jackpot.
