mother/son father/daughter songs

Hey ladies

My FI and I are still looking at songs to dance to with our parents.  We each have a couple in our list, but we each want a few more.  We are planning on presenting to his mom and my dad a CD with the songs we like and have them choose... We don't want your typical songs.. SO if you have any suggestions at all please feel free to leave them!  I am thanking you all in advance!
Enjoy the AWESOME weather!Laughing

For the father-daughter we are dancing to "Wildflowers" by Tom Petty. I'm not sure if my FI is planning on doing a dance with his mom or not.

HTH (sorry they are both country songs, H and I both like country) :-)

We are also doing the father/daughter & mother/son dance together and the only song that we both have agreed on is 'My Wish' by Rascal Flatts.

My dad and I are dancing to Johnny Cash's version of "You are my Sunshine" cuz it's the one lullaby my dad always sang to us as kids. FI and his mom aren't sure what song they'll do yet, but since we'll be taking ballroom dancing classes she thought it'd be fun for them to do a waltz together.

My dad and I wanted something unique, and we're both pretty good dancers, so we went with a fun, uptempo song by Needtobreathe called "The Outsiders." It's nothing specifically father/daughtery, but it just echoed a lot of the advice and heart-to-hearts I've had with my dad over the years.

Other top contenders were "Still Fighting It" by Ben Folds or "Let it Be Me" by Ray Lamontagne (which often gets mistaken for a lovesong, but the lyrics are just about friendship and I think are quite touching when applied to a parent/child relationship.

My Dad and I danced to Trace Adkin's "Then They Do".  DH's mom chose "The Man you've become" by Molly Passuti (gag! but whatever - she picked it)

One of my contenders is "heart of life" by John Mayer. It is  great song- and the message is positive, but I can't decide if parts of the song make it sound too sad-

We combined our dances and chose a song from our band's playlist - "Drift Away". I had a hard time finding the right song and didn't want ANYTHING with a romantic association!
