Minnesota-Minneapolis and St. Paul

Reception venue suggestions

Hello! I don't post on here anymore since getting married but my good friend just got engaged and she's having trouble finding a reception venue.  I thought I'd see if I could get any "knottie" suggestions.

They are looking to get married fall 2010- preferably in September. They will probably have around 180 people and are looking for a Saturday wedding. Unfortunately, most places are booked. Below are the venues where they've looked/called so far. Are there any others you can think of that they should consider? TIA!

    Location totally open?  Look/feel/vibe?  Budget?

Check Chateau Lamothe - not sure on capacity, but could be worth a shot.
    Bearpath was beautiful.

I'll mention Bearpath and Chateau Lamothe to her. They'd prefer Minneapolis or St. Paul but are starting to look into the suburbs. Probably their favorite venues so far have been Calhoun Beach Club, MN History Center, and Mill City but the dates didn't work for them. So maybe a vibe similar to those? I'm not sure on the exact budget but something along the lines of the above venues would work. Thanks!

    Mpls Public Library
    Weismann Musem
    Soap Factory
    Upper Cut Boxing Gym
    Old Arizona Theater
    Como Zoo
    Apple Orchards
    Wabasha Caves

*Also to note the current issue of Minneapolis St Paul magazine (with a doctor on thecover) has a pretty helpful wedding section, with tables  and tables of information, including several venues,, size, and various info like catering and liquor limitations.

I didn't see Profile Event Center on that list....I think that's a pretty neat venue!

I saw she had had some mansions on her list.  We had our wedding at Summit Manor (review in bio), and I can't say enough good things about it.  It holds up to 200 people.

We"re doing ours at Columbia Manor.  They offer an outdoor ceremony site during certain seasons, and the inside is gorgeous.  It only holds about 200 comfortably though.

If she's looking for something urban, loft-like, and non-traditional, she might want to check out our venue (Spill the Wine, a wine bar in the warehouse district). Our room only holds 120, but they have a room upstairs that would hold her number. Pictures are in my bio!

Thanks for the suggestions. Keep 'em coming:)

They have looked at many venues and I think still have a few to check out. Nothing has been perfect yet though. Either too small or not the right date. I think they are checking out the Dtwn Mpls Central Library and Picosa this week. If anyone has reviews or pics on those that would be great! Thanks!

Does anyone have any reviews for the caterer Minnatahoe (sp?) food?

Metro State has a beautiful view of downtown St. Paul, but I'm not sure it is as fancy as the other venues mentioned. That was probably our second choice in venue.
