Penny Steele - Cakes

For those of you who dont know her cake - it is amazing. Seriously good! I just posted on the Cake Tasting post about how it is really the best cake I have ever tasted.

Well for those of you who have hired her or who are thinking about it - I just talked to her this morning and it sound like she is thinking about stopping cake making because of the long hours which would be terrible as like I said, she makes the best cake ever!

If you have already booked with her, I am sure she will honor bookings - that is not why I am posting - but rather if you have a second, email her and tell her why you booked with her and how awesome her cake is. I think that might make the long hours not seem so bad. It would be really sad if she stopped as her cake is so good.

    No like I said - she is not closing down for sure or canceling bookings! I think she is just stressed and feeling a bit tired as we all get sometimes. I just thought we could help cheer her up! Legg - I would still set up your tasting!

    Make sure to confirm the day of. I went to my tasting and she forgot about it and had no cake to taste. It was quite a drive for us too, so we didn't reschedule.

    Bah! You had me worried for a second! I hope she gets some of her steam back! I'd hate to see her give up a successful business because she's taking on to much!

    Like I've said before, we're friends with her son.... so of course I asked him.  Sounds like they have no plans to close shop!  Just maybe hold back on expansions, etc.

    So go for a tasting. I promise you won't be disappointed. :)

    Sounds like she just needs to not take on so much, maybe limit the number of cakes she'll do per week or hire on a new staff member if that's doable (hey, there's always a pastry chef in-the-making looking for a great internship, so it wouldn't have to cost a lot!). 

    I've never worked with her before, so it'd be kinda weird if I emailed her my sentiments (I've also never tried her cake). But I have ONLY heard great things about it.

    Whew I read the first post I got really sad!! I just called her earlier today to set up a tasting...she just hasn't called back yet.  I really really hope she does!
