Officiants

Does anyone know of a good person to officiant our wedding.  We do not belong to any church, but are Catholic and my fiance's parents church won't do it unless we attend the pre-marriage classes, which we don't want to do.  We would like to have the ceremony being done by a religious figure, but if anyone knows of one that would be willing to do it outside of a church and without making us take classes, we don't care if it's not a Catholic person because we can always go back later and get it blessed. If not, if anyone just has any good referrence for a religious figure to officiant I would love to hear that as well. Thanks

Sorry, I'm no help her, but I'm curious why you don't want to take the classes.  Ours were free (although we are members of our church), only three nights, and pretty helpful.  Plus, you get a discount on your marriage license if you take the classes.

I also wonder why you dont want to take the classes since you save a good $70 bucks on your marriage license.

But to answer your question we're using Affordable I Do's- http://www.affordableidos.com/

They offer a wide array of christian services and you can have them select a traditional catholic one, I think most of the officiants are ordained ministers of the universalist faith (google if you are not familiar with it)

I guess we just don't really want to take the classes because we aren't a member of a church, so we didn't know how much more intensive the process will be to have to do all that.  Also, I work nights and weekends (I have a rotating schedule) so the Catholic churches don't seem to be very lenient with their classes and with my work schedule I don't know how we will be able to work it out.  Any more suggestions about it would be greatly appreciated.  So, really it's not that we have ruled it out completely, but Catholic priest often wont marry you outside of the church either and we already have our placed booked.  Thanks for the advice and knowledge about the discount too, I never knew that and it's definitely something to think more about.

Another great place to look is The Knot Officiant section - several options to choose from!
