Anyone used Stonebrook/Edinburgh golf course?

Hi all, so I've posted a few times and have been a lurker around here, and my FI and I are ready to finalize our venue - so I need some advice. We are really struggling to find a venue that is in our price range in the cities. These threads have really been helpful, but I think I just have a hard time spending so much money on one day...

Anyways, we looked at Stonebrook Golf Course in Shakopee and really like it; however, the only down fall is that for the ceremony only about 30 chairs fit and the rest of the group has to stand on the patio (just not the ideal wedding ceremony I've imagined). We are having around 175 total guests, so I thought that might be pretty annoying if you are short like me and are on the patio. The positive, the reception venue is very nice and we can get a hosted beer and wine bar, food, taxes and fees for under $11,500.

We've also looked at Edinburgh, and while it is more expensive, it remains at the top of the list because it's a nice venue. Downfall, we'd have to cut in additional areas to make this work.

Anyone held or going to hold their wedding at either of these locations and/or been to weddings there? I'd really appreciate any feedback or if anyone else has other venue ideas to check out. TIA!

I would check with Mendakota Country club.  It is  right off of 494 near St. Paul.  We are having our reception there and they have a nice gazebo and patio for weddings.  I am sure they could seat about 50 or more for the wedding.  It is a nice space.  We are planning on around $10000 total including alcohol, rental free, dinner, and appetizers.  It is a great location with a large and gorgeous ballroom overlooking an award winning golf course.  Food and Bev min for a Saturday is $5000 but that is easily covered with 175 guests.
Wonderful food and nice event planner Perry Johnson.  It got the 2010 Knot award for one of the best reception places.  Not too heard of so many people don't know about this great venue.  Just thought I'd throw this one in.  I am excited to have my wedding here and you don't have to be a member!

I went to a wedding at Edinburgh about a year and a half ago and really liked the venue.  They just had the reception there, not ceremony, so I couldn't comment on what the ceremony space would be like, but it was a beautiful reception venue with great food!  I looked into at first for my own wedding, and the contact there, Cheron Rubenstein, was very helpful, but I decided to go with a different venue before I looked too far into Edinburgh.  I'm doing mine at Mississippi Dunes Golf Links (www.mississippidunes.com) which is in Cottage Grove, so a bit out of the cities but that makes the prices a bit lower too!  I'm doing my ceremony there too and the ceremony area down by the river will seat 250.

I went to a wedding a year ago at Edinburgh and it was gorgeous. They just had the reception there. It was one of my best friends and she said they were really easy to work with! But gorgeous venue!

I am having my reception at Stonebrooke! :) We are not doing our ceremony there, however, so I don't have any advice on that....  I have not been to any events there but since we have booked our date there I have run into several people who are soon to have or did have their receptions there and said it was great and Deb has been super helpful!  This has made me feel better about my decision to book there!  Good luck with your decision!
