Can anyone recommend a hair stylist? That is cheap? I don't even know what to expect for this expense. Should they also do make up?

There are a whole bunch of stylists that will do on-site hair and makeup. Smart and chic is popular on the boards. There is also Unveiled styling, and a whole bunch of others that I'm sure our lovely MSP ladies will post about!

I am using Brett Dorrian (http://www.studionouvellevogue.com/) she does hair and make up $75 for each (trial) and then $100 for each day of. She is pricey but is full service she will help with skin etc. before your day. I have nothing but great things to say about her.

Like PP the other ladies can tell you about other options. Try to check out previous posts by searching hair as well.

I used a few girls at salongeorge, off University and 280 in St. Paul to do all the hair for the WP and my makeup.

Ooops, forgot to add the other place I was going to recommend!  For a few other weddings that I've been in, we've gone to the Ficocello's Academy in St. Paul on Randolph & Snelling.  The stylists there have their cosmetology licenses, but are at the academy to learn more.  It's been a few years since I've been there, but I believe when I was, the updos were in the $40 range.

I am getting mine done for $50 for hair and $15 for make up.  A family friend is a hair stylist who recommended a friend of hers since she isn't available for my wedding.  She has done two trials for my hair (for free) and has done my makeup once.  I am very happy with her and just couldn't see paying $300+ on hair and makeup for one day.
