There's no real set number of bridesmaids you should have. I've seen anywhere from 0 to 10. I'm having 5 bridesmaids and 2 jr. bridesmaids to my FI's 4 groomsmen. It's about including the people that you want to have standing up there with you.

We had 5 BMs and 5 GM, a FG and RB and 2 ushers (ushers mostly depends on how many guests you have).  Go with however many you want by your side, but make sure that if you're having a small, intimate wedding that you don't have 12 attendants on each side, for example.

We are having 3 on each side.  But there is no magic number - just ask however many you really want to stand up beside you.  Don't be in a rush to ask them.  Take some time to think on it.

We are doing 7BM and 7GM (worked out to be even didn't plan on that) 2 FGs and 1 RB, no ushers - GM are doubling up for that.

It really is up to you.  Originally I had 6 BMs but didn't I feel right not having my sister-in-law so I asked her also which brought things up to 7.

The ratio I have heard is 1 bridesmaid/groomsman for every 50 guests, but by no means do you have to follow that.

I am thinking 4 or 5 bridesmaids with 4 or 5 groomsman.   I will also have 3 personal attendants and 4 ushers.

    Good luck!

I'm definitely not the one to ask...I had 10 bridesmaids and 7 groomsmen + 2 ushers.  It wasn't about a maximum number for us, but rather the people that we were closest to that we wanted standing beside us as we said our vows.    I couldn't choose between just family or just friends, so I went with them all!  There were some nay-sayers, my mother being the loudest one, but in the end, I wouldn't have changed a thing.  I picked people that had been there for me in the past, and who I know will continue to be there for me (us) in the future.
