Read any good books lately?

Anyone read any good books lately?

I'm 6 pages away from finishing The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo - oh.em.gee.  Soooo good.  Really demented and messed up, but good!!!

What's on your reading list?  What would you recommend to others to read?

Anything by Nicholas Sparks is good in my opinion.  I just finished reading The Darkest Evening of the Year by Dean Koontz, it was ok.  I just start reading Twilight today!

I've been reading the Complete Sherlock Holmes. I love classics, and I saw the new movie over Christmas, so it's been a fun read.

Next up will be Under the Dome by Stephen King. I'm a huge fan, so I can't wait to start that.

I had kind of a rough week, and DH just came home with a present for me to cheer me up!  I LOVE the tv show Castle (and Nathan Fillion in particular).  Well, if you watch the show, then you know that it's about an author, Rick Castle, who shadows a female detective who is the muse for his next book, Heat Wave, about a cop named Nikki Heat,.  Anyway, it turns out that they actually wrote and published a book called Heat Wave (author credit to Richard Castle with Nathan's picture on the back!). The whole show is a little goofy, and I can't wait to read the book.

I just started reading 'Crazy Like Us: The Globalization of the American Psyche' its in my field so really interesting to me but FI thinks its dorky.  Otherwise I LOVE anything by David Sedaris.  Not a Twilight fan... my alliance is with Harry Potter :)

You should!  It's got the same kind of slightly-overacting-on-purpose quality that Firefly had.  My favorite scene was from last season around Halloween when Castle (Nathan) came out in his Halloween costume....as a SPACE COWBOY! His daughter was like "Really, Dad? You were a space cowboy five years ago!"  Yep, it was totally the Captain Mal outfit.  I about died laughing.

Firefly Lane Girls by Kristin Hannah---- really really good!  I read it in a week and I am a slow reader!  Couldn't put it down!

Committed by Elizabeth Gilbert--- same author as Eat Pray Love.  Gives you such a better understanding and more open mind about marriage.  It is very liberal, but some really good insights.

I haven't seen Castle or Firefly, and I realize I'm taking this topic off subject, but as another Nathan Fillion reference....has anyone seen Dr. Horrible? I'm just a tiny bit obsessed and am planning on making a slight reference to it in our engagement pictures Embarassed

I have no time for recreational reading. So aside from textbooks and the DSM-IV-TR, I've got nothin'. Oh how I miss reading for fun....

<div>Love it! Joss Whedon is pretty much awesome. Please post those e-pics! Are you going to do some in a laundromat? Now I'm so curious. We just started watching How I Met Your Mother, and Neil Patrick Harris is hilarious as well. </div><div>
</div><div>Bimbi: I feel you on the lack of recreational reading. It took me so long to get through Sherlock Holmes, and it was a short story! My textbooks, on the other hand, have been getting a lot of lovin'.</div>

I completely understand the problem of textbooks over-running your life and not finding any time to read for fun.  After years of being in the same boat, I finally have time to read for fun and have been reading book after book after book.  Unfortunately, I hit a snag with 3 Cups of Tea.  I've heard such great reviews, but I just can't seem to get through it.  I get bored.  I finally gave up yesterday and picked up Dear John.  I was at the book store this weekend and saw Jodi Picoult has a new book out and it was all I could do to not buy it.  I love her stories!!  The most recent one is about a child with aspergers syndrome.  I'm sure I will read it soon.  :)

    I also love Firefly.

I'm reading a few books right now... I'm weird.  The Rapture of Canaan, A Map of the World and re-reading Eclipse.

I also really want to get the Lost Symbol, Dan Brown's new book but its only in hardcover right now so its a good $30....

Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog is rediculously funny.  I love the idea of referencing it in e-pics.  Would your FI play Dr. Horrible or Captain Hammer?  It would be funny if you could get a friend to dress up as the other one and be way in the background of one or two pictures, maybe out of focus.

    Oooh, I'll join in here!

I just finished reading "The Blood of Flowers". It's historical fiction about a girl who becomes a rug maker in Iran. Really good -- akin to The Red Tent, which is one of my alltime favorite books.

I want to read Committed! I thougth Eat, Pray, Love was good in some parts and crappy in others, but overall I like Elizabeth Gilbert and I'm interested to see what she says about marriage.

As for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - YES! Loved it. I'm excited to read the next part in that series!

I'm also a big fan of Atlas Shrugged and Harry Potter!
