How can I use white Christmas lights?

Our reception is in an old church sanctuary. This will be the first wedding reception in that room, and I am freaking out a little bit. It's a cool space, but the lighting worries me. I don't want all those yucky old basic lights on, but I don't want it super dark. After church today, FI and I played around with the light switches and discovered you can turn on just a few lights. That made me feel better, but I really kind of wanted some white Christmas lights somewhere in there. He would like to have them strung from the ceiling, but there is NO way we can get up there. How can I incorporate lights without climing to the ceiling?

use them around the edge of the gift table, the guest book table, the cake table. The head table or sweet heart table.

Oooh... good idea. Would you put them under the linen on the tables?

I agree with Peach, or if you have a few fake trees you can string them up and place them at the outlets around the perimeter to add some more light.

I really wanted this one venue (didn't get it), and that's what I wanted to do, but the couple who was getting ready for their wedding their put poles in flower pots, decorated them very tastefully and placed them around the them. Then they hung the lights from it. It looked really cool and no one even noticed. I used to have a picture of the place, but don't anymore. Hope this helps.

You could also put them around the centerpieces instead of votives, I know they have battery operated ones and then you could wrap it in a small amount of tulle to cover the box.

I would get the battery operated ones, so you dont have cords everywhere, and run them around the edges of as many tables as you care to. Also, accent lights are a lot of fun too!
