Indie-type wedding music

Hi gals,

I'm having my ceremony and reception at the same location, and in between will be a social hour.  I wanted some music that encouraged socializing.  I love indie type music, and wanted something for people ot mingle to... like when you walk into Nordstrom or something.  They play everything from Radiohead and Band of Horses, to Ben Harper, to Gwen Stafani, to more classic styles like Sinatra.  How can I go about doing this?  I'm pretty sure Nordstrom uses a satellite system to play their music (I should know, I work there.), but how can I do something like that during my wedding?  Thoughts?

Do you have a DJ? Usually DJs will ask you what kind of music you want for your social/cocktail hour. If you have specific song/band requests, you can ask them to get those songs, if they don't already have them. I guess this question would hinge upon whether or not you have a DJ. If you are using an iPod for the reception, I would suggest making a playlist like one you were describing from Nordstrom and have it set up to play during that hour.
