small town girl in need of venue!

Hi! I need some help! I am from a very small town (staples) kind of near Brainerd or little falls but my fiance and I now live in shakopee! We are unsure of where to even have our wedding! If we get married up north in my church we need a venue for 200-250 seated or down in the cities we want a more casual cocktail reception....soooo anyone with any advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

You could also check out the Three Rivers Park District.  There are many options available, that might work for you!

You could look into Crystal Lake Golf Course (LINK).  Diane and Victoria are great to work with.  I found them to be really reasonable.

If you chose to stay in the Cities, I highly recommend my reception venue, The Varsity Theater, for a cocktail reception. They knock it out of the park and the setup is PERFECT for cocktail-style receptions. You can even have your ceremony a couple of doors down at the Loring Pasta Bar (the Varsity's caterer).

If you opt for an up-north reception, there are a ton of options in Brainerd/Baxter: Cragun's, Madden's, Grand View Lodge, The Lodge at Brainerd Lakes, Timbermist, Breezy Point, Manhattan Beach Lodge, etc. A friend's brother had his reception at the Falls Ballroom in Little Falls - it would be a fun spot to do something retro (I think there was a wedding there a few years ago featured on The Knot - check out the "real weddings" section).

If you opt to do something up north, my photographer was 17 kinds of awesome and is based out of Nisswa - Vada Photography.

Earl Browne Heritage Center in Brooklyn Center is nice. Multiple rooms that can fit your group, and a couple of hotels nearby.

Check out TheKnot.com local venue recommendations as well.  There are over 150 venues to look through and you can search by certain criteria...
