Little Sweetie*

Per you passport post on my post, did you get a new expiration date or did it stay the same?  My expiration date is 3 years away and someone mentioned to me if i renew now for a different name that only my name will change on it and the expiration won't and then in 2.5 years I'll have to renew again.  what was your story?

It should be a new expiration date, but I'd have to check at home to see.  That doesn't make sense - why would you get new pictures/pay for a new passport if it won't be good for another 10 years?

Now your DL is another story - that you pay the $15 or whatever, take a new pic, but it's still on the 5-yr schedule once you hit 25, 30, 35, etc.  (I think...)

I just spoke with the Passport people and they took my pictures and gave me a form for a name change and explained it's just a name change and the expiration date will not be redone and i'll need to apply again in 2 years for a renewel.  There is no cost for the name change, but i"ll be without my passport and marriage license for about 2 months.

Did you just do a renewel vs a name change?

If I can just do a renewel now...I'd do that vs name change and then a renewel.

The ladies I talked to gave me a different story last week then this week so I'm just very confused on what I need to do.

I had to totally apply for a new one.  Did you have to pay all the fees?  I basically paid for an entirely new passport...
