popcorn bar

I am thinking about doing a popcorn bar instead of cake. My FH doesn't eat cake and we both really enjoy popcorn. Does anyone know where to order that or would it be more of a DIY thing?

Re: popcorn bar

  • You could check with your caterer to see if that is something they can do. Otherwise, if you would like to do it yourself, why not.

  • You can rent popcorn machines through rental stores, I believe. I saw one when we went to rent a bobcat, so... I'm assuming it was to rent out. good luck!

  • I love popcorn - what a great idea!  I'm sure there is a company that does it somewhere....

  • Check with Candyland in downtown Mpls or St Paul - they might be able to do something like that.  I know I've gone to corporate meetings downtown and they've brought their stuff in.
  • My FMIL looked into this for our late night snack.  The company she found was like $400 but that's still cheaper than most cakes!

  • What company does it for 400?
  • I rented a popcorn machine and the supplies from Midway Party Rental for maybe 75 bucks? This doesn't include fun toppings, but does include popcorn, oil, salt and bags.
  • I think this sounds like a really fun idea, but I have to admit that I would be a little disappointed to not have a dessert.

But I totally get not wanting cake. Neither H nor I like normal cake, so we went with cheesecakes from Muddy Paws. It was a little over $300 for ~80 people.

  • Lasting Impressions by Amy does Popcorn Bars!
  • We are doing the same thing (instead of a candy bar that is I LOVE cake!)  Lucky for us FI's parents have a popcorn machine in their mancave/basement so we are just buying seeds and oil from Sam's club.. which is super cheap by the way.

I second pp don't spend $400 on a popcorn machine unless they are going to sit there and pop it for you all night as well.
