Minnesota-Minneapolis and St. Paul

Outdoor wedding locations???

I was wondering if anyone could tell me some good outdoor wedding locations that are at a decent price. We live north of Princeton so anywhere is pretty much okay. The things is we have heard that we should not go with a park because there are many things that can go wrong- double bookings and not getting the deposit back and that- I really want somewhere that we will get beautiful pictures but every place that I have found online is really expensive when it comes to the reception. We are having a smaller wedding- about 40 people and then the reception would be about 150. We are starting to just think of using our own backyard but I wanted to see if anyone had some reasonable ideas first...thanks!

I've heard wonderful things about the value of the Harriet Island Pavillion in St. Paul.  Also, Centennial Lakes in Edina has an outdoor ampitheater that is beautiful and quite inexpensive.  I don't know how much their indoor reception space is, but it fits about 150.

Millenium Gardens in Plymouth is also beautiful and has an on-site reception location--don't know about food prices.

    Good luck!

We're using a park in Minneapolis.  I haven't heard any bad things about it.  I'm thinking it will be fine.  Sure hope so anyway.  The park rental fee for a three hour time slot was $500.  I thought that was quite reasonable.

We're having our ceremony and reception at Carlson Towers Rotunda with the ceremony outside.  Carlson has 2 venues at 394/494 both with outdoor locations.

Have you looked into Mississippi Dunes? I just had to post-pone my wedding, but I was getting an amazing deal for a Sunday wedding/reception. They have May 30 open now if you are looking to get married quick. The advantage to that particular Sunday is that most people have Monday off for Memorial Day weekend.

Either way, I know that if you have your wedding on any other day than Saturday, you get a good deal...worth looking into.

We're doing our outdoor ceremony at Sylvia's Garden (at the Little Log House Pioneer Center in Hastings), followed by an indoor reception at the Village Hall (also there).

You might want to check out apple orchards and vineyards in the area. That's where I was first looking, but they were all booked up and/or not doing weddings during the fall harvest.

Also, Gale Woods Farm, Tartan Park Pavillion, ... I got lots more for ya, but I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for. PM me if you want my spreadsheet of options (not joking).

We are having our ceremony in the garden at Jax Cafe in NE mpls for 30 people followed by dinner in one of their smaller room.  I know they have a large reception space upstairs that can fit 300 so you could easily fit your number.  I like that the Jax garden is outdoors but walled off to the general public for privacy.  And the cost for the reception is only $250 no matter the size.

Check out Mississippi Dunes Golf Course in Cottage Grove.  You can get married right on the river then have the reception inside!

We are having our reception at Majestic Oaks Golf Club in Ham Lake, they have a gorgeous outdoor area for a wedding and they have three rooms to choose from for a reception. We thought their food/bev minimums were quite reasonable compared to some of the other places we looked at.  And they have been awesome to work with so far!
