First cake tasting

I am so excited we scheduled our first cake tasting this Sunday!!!! Is there anything I should know before I go! thanks ladies!

You should know that cake is awesome!! But I am sure you already know that I just kind of went to mine with an open mind. I am really big on "customer service." The 2nd place we went to made us feel so rushed like they really didn't *need* our business. We ended up booking our date with the first place because they were really welcoming and made us our own little mini cake to take home!

Some places let you pick the flavors and fillings that you want to sample (Anita Kline) , while others automatically just give you pieces of white and chocolate cake.  When you have options, don't be afraid to try "too many."  I was worried that we would look greedy (or something?) if we asked to sample too many, but looking back, they is just silly!  If there are lots of flavors you think you might like, go ahead and try them all!  That way you will know for sure which ones you want to go with.

(Anita went ahead and added a couple of other flavors/fillings that we didn't ask to try, and I am really happy we got to taste them.  Ultimately we used some of those flavors in our cake!)

My Mom is a pastry chef and she always taught me that a piece of cake should be able to stand up on it's own when cut from the original cake. If it falls over it's too dense, if it breaks apart it is too brittle. This affects the flavor/taste of the cake. Oh! And take pictures/magazines of what you love to help them with the design you want.

michelle sauer of sauer cakes, llc is the best! she let us pick our flavors and fillings in advance, we met with her on a sunday and she made up these cute little cupcakes for my fiance and i to taste! she is great and we are so excited to be working with her! she's also very reasonably priced!
