Mexican Rivera Cruise…any tips?

FI and I will be setting sail in just about one month for our honeymoon…straight for our wedding.
My biggest question is what kind of charges could I encounter on my T-Mobile phone? I have now called twice and got different answers. My main concern is I want to be able to update my facebook status and photos. –I was told I should turn my data roaming OFF for the whole time, since I would be charged for every email I recive, but I can text for .35 a time…
That and what would you do, or have done that you can recommend (on both the actual cruise ship—we are both first timers-and the ports) We are going to Cabo, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta.
THANKS!!

My FI and I took that same exact cruise last January!  Everybody says it -- but my number one piece of advice is to show up a day earlier than embarkation.  We ended up missing our cruise at the embarkation city (due to missing a transfer flight) and had to fly to Cabo to meet it.  Spendy, not to mention we ended up missing a whole day at sea and one of the formal dinners.  Bring along one of those multiple outlet thingys (you will be happy you did!).  I definitely recommend doing the Pirate Ship excursion in Puerto Vallarta.  Very fun, and we even saw dolphins and whales while on board.  Enjoy your cruise!

Do you have wifi on your phone or other internet options? I just picked up a phone from Verizon (sorry, I don't have T Mobile advice!) and I'm heading to the Dominican on Saturday... they said to just make sure I turn off my network and work off the wi-fi alone unless I need to send a text?

</div><div>Oh I forgot to ask.. we are on the fence about bringing my laptop, since we will be at the wedding the first week, I think it would be nice to be able to download pics onto the laptop, so I wont have to bring more memory cards. --what do you think? Should we bring the laptop, or would it be a waste of space?</div>

My parents took a cruise to the caribbean last month, so I'm not sure how applicable this is to you, but....

they JUST got their phone bill today, and it had almost $100 in extra charges! And that was for one seven minute phone call to me (I also have t-mobile) and less than dozen text messages. They were obviously surprised, especially since they had taked to T-mobile before they left and the charges they described were nothing like this. I would verify with T-mobile about the charges for using the phone on the ship versus when you are in port. My parents think this may have made a difference for them. HTH!
