XP w/ TN: NW Dog Boarding?... and job search?

Hey everyone, I know I haven't popped in here in awhile, but I have two questions...
Does anyone have any recs for dog sitters or boarding places in the NW burbs?  H and I are going out of town for our anniversary in a month, and our friend had to cancel on watching our two dogs.  In the past we've always used WoofDah (awesome. highly recommend!) but they're in the SW burbs. We live up by 694/252 now, so it's a little too far of a drive.

Second- any recommendations on places to job hunt? I currently work in higher ed, but at this point I'm kind of up for anything. I really have no idea what I want to do (helpful, huh?)  so any tips on finding jobs or narrowing career choices would be awesome.

Thanks :)

Well I can't help with the dogs, but I can give you some websites that I have used in the past to look for jobs.  Hopefully they are helpful, but as I got so sick of looking for jobs that I went back to school for my master's degree I can't really say that they helped me all that much, lol!  Anyway here are a few:

    http://www.minnesotajobnetwork.com/
    www.indeed.com/www.simplyhired.com <--very similar sites

You could also check the Star Trib or other local newspaper sites.  Also if there are specific cities you would like to work in sometimes their city web page will have job postings.  Good luck!

Pretty sure my friends have used this boarding place in the past & loved it!  Stone Moutain Pet Lodge.  It's located in Blaine.

It's hella expensive, but the BEST boarding place (especially if your dog has any sort of anxiety problems) I know of is Animal Wellness Center in Maple Grove. It's right off of 494 at Bass Lake Rd.

Otherwise, PetSmart PetsHotel (at Arbor Lakes) is amazingly good for a much lower pricepoint.

Yeah I've heard good things about the PetsHotel.

I'm on the "holy crap it's been a year!?!?" train! hahaha!

I have no recs unfortunatly, as I live in the south metro and have no experience with the north burbs.  Hope you find a decent place!

Where are you guys going on vacation?

We've boarded Puck at PetsHotel before and he loves it. (The last time he played with two dogs the whole time- a Mauer and a Kirby. for real.) I'm just not sure how do to the whole kennel thing.  They'll kill each other if they're in the same room (they like to stretch out), but they'll hate us if we separate them. ;)

Maybe I'll give them a call though and see if they have availability too.

Oh... and I'm totally on the "holy crap, it's been a year" mindset too. I have no clue where the last 12 months went.  H and I were talking about how crazy we were a year ago and it made me all nervous and tense just remembering it. haha

We had H's Rott boarded at a place in Stillwater for our wedding. I don't remember the name (grrr!) but I think that it was kind of a family run type place. There can't be too many places in Stillwater, right? They had really decent prices.

I'm also on the job hunt & am looking to change careers. I look quite often on the MN Council of Nonprofits job board. They have a lot of jobs that are not posted anywhere else and a lot of variety. Craigslist is a great place, too. A friend of mine landed a corporate job with a company car using Craigslist-- there are some decent jobs on there, not just junk. I would also suggest targeting a company and researching them. For example, you could target Best Buy corporate offices or Medtronic-- large companies that do a lot of hiring.

We're actually just going to Milwaukee; nothing too exciting. One of H's friends is getting married that weekend, so we're going to make a short vacation out of it. :)

I actually just made a reservation (well, dependent on their 'trial' day) with Camp BowWow. It'll only be like $130 for 3 days of daycare and two nights for both monster dogs. That's a steal!

Milwaukee sounds exciting to me :) It's fun just to get out of town and stay in a hotel! :) Have fun!

Hi! I use a place just outside of Forest Lake for our dogs - Camp K-9. It's less than $30 a day for 1 dog. They have wonky pickup/drop off times, but for that price I will deal with it!
