Insuring your ring?

Just realizing that I should probably get my ring insured....but I have no idea how I go about doing it?  Do you insure it from the store it was purchased at?  Do you do it as part of homeowners insurance?  Where do I start?  Thanks!

I think DH had mine insured through our home owners insurance.  I didn't want to know the value, so he took care of all that.

Mine was added to my homeowner's insurance. You can take out its own policy, too...i think!

Yup!  Through your homeowners.  It is really not very much to add it.  Do it soon!

Yes, do it soon!  I was just in Kay's the other day and a lady came in and lost her ring-and had NO insurance!! :(

Put in on the homeowners insurance just like the other girls said

Ask for a rider to your homeowners insurance policy. If you're a renter, you can do the same for your renters insurance.

If you have homeowners insurance and you do NOTHING to add the jewelry to your policy, you will still have some coverage, but it'll be minimal. It's typical that just your blanket policy would cover only $1,000 to $2,000.

Also, you can do a google search or ask a reputable jewelry store to refer you to one of the companies that does independent insurance policies of jewelry.

Correction, I just asked DH, and it's through our homeowner insurance company, but it's under it's own policy.

I insured mine through jewelry mutual.  It cost $45/year for a $5,200 ring which I thought was pretty resonable.  I like the company :)

FI added it to his homeowner's insurance right after he proposed. We don't live together yet, but it can still be put under his homeowners.

However, we haven't insured my wedding band yet, because it's just sitting in his safe. We'll probably add that to the insurance too around our wedding.
