Dinner time

So our ceremony location allows for three different time slots 9-12am, 1-4pm, and 5-7pm. We chose the 1-4 slot, with a 2:30 or 3pm ceremony time. Probablt go with 2:30, because we need enough time for pics afterward (we won't do pics with bride/groom together because we don't want to see each other).

Our recpetion venue is 25 mins away, all highway so not bad. If our ceremony ends at 3pm, is 5pm or 5:30 a reasonable time for dinner? We will do a cocktail hour, so if that makes a difference.

Ideally, we would like to have dinner at 6, but I know that might be a stretch.

Thoughts? Thanks :)

Re: Dinner time

  • For what it's worth... Our ceremony was at 2:30pm and we had a cocktail hour - when I planned it out we planned 30 min for the ceremony, 45 mins for the receiving line (we actually ushered everyone out instead of standing in a line and hugging everyone) and then had our "exit" planned for 10 mins... Cocktail hour began at 5pm then dinner began at 6:30pm - everyone said it was the perfect timing they had ever had at a wedding... our ceremony and reception was about 20/25 mins apart all intown driving!

  • If you want to do it that way, I would make sure that there are drinks and appetizers available at the reception starting at 3:30. You could do a cocktail 90 minutes (with some kind of munchies) and have dinner start at 5.
