BMs shoes?

So I'm not a shoe person. All of my shoes are basically black or a shade of brown.
 
My BMs are wondering what I want to do regarding BMs shoes. The dress color is "lapis" or basically a dark purple. 2 of my BMs wanted to do silver shoes, and 2 preferred matching to the dress color. I agree that silver might be too much of a contrast from the lapis (I'm boring, I know). I don't think I would want to do gold because other accesories in the wedding are silver (a brooch on my dress, jewelry, etc) and I don't personally care for gold and silver together.

I guess my preference would be to match the shoes to the color of the dress. I don't really know where to go with that though because I've heard people having problems with dyeable shoes (shrinking after dyeing, getting wet, etc) and I wouldn't know where to start to try to find the right color in a store. I don't want them all stuck with the same style - I'd prefer to let them choose the style they think is most comfortable as long as they are the same color. I also don't want them spending a bunch of money on a shoe they won't wear again.

I thought having them wear their own strappy black shoes, but none of them thought black was an option since the wedding will be an outdoor summer wedding in a garden.

I'm not sure where to start! I really don't know anything about shoes or shoe shopping, and nothing about fashion, so any advice would be appreciated!!! Sorry for the long post! I'm such a rambler.

I want to preface this with I'm not a shoe person either, and I'm with you on having only brown or black shoes!

That said, personally I'm not a fan of matching shoe color to the color of the dress. I think black shoes would be just fine, I don't think it matters that you're getting married outside in a garden. Also, I think gold shoes would be fine, because IMO mixing gold and silver is ok, especially in your situation.

Anyways, I agree with PP about the matchy matchy of the shoes in the same shade as the dress. While I love the color, it may be overkill, especially in a garden wedding. You mentioned silver as the color of the accessories, and that's always a good go-to formal shoe color, and it wouldn't be too matchy. 

I'm not a huge fan of the black with that particular color. If you HAD to go black, I would say something strappy, with minimal straps.

I must know...what are your colors (aside from lapis?). If there is another accent color there, you could consider that for shoe color. For example, a green shade may be very pretty.

Thanks for the info! I may need to reconsider the silver. I just figured with the dark purple, a light silver would be too much contrast, but maybe that's a good thing

I'm so boring, my original plan was to do the matching color. So boring in fact, that one of my accent colors is a lighter shade of purple, like a lavender. There will also be accents in blue, like in the bouquets, but I'm not sure where else I might use the blue. Seriously boring, but I guess that's me. At least the lavender is coming in a really pretty patterned paper that I found for use in the invites and STDs. FI and I ruined our digital camera on vacation and haven't bought a new one, otherwise I would try to post pictures of the paper.

So if the matching color ends up winning the consensus with my BMs, where would you recommend I start looking? I'm not a shopper either, so I have no idea! Yet again, thank goodness for TK!
 If silver wins the consensus, there is only really pretty much one shade of silver in shoes, right? Or would I need to watch out for that? I'm seriously clueless so thank you so much for your help!

I vote go with the silver.  I like having contrast in the shoe.  Plus your girls can then shop on their own, determine the own price point and get shoes that they like and want.  I think its a win win for everyone.  And if the silvers don't match it really doesn't matter.  They will all look nice with the dress.  But I'm biased because I'm having my girls do silver shoes with a cobalt blue dress;)

Wellll I'm not sure if this will be the "right" color purple for you.  But I personally am in love with my *cheap* Target shoes that I bought to wear with my dress.  The girls loved my shoes and decided to get them as well!  They'll be wearing brown dresses, so the purple shoes will be a fun pop!  And, yes, I have posted my shoes before, because I am THAT in love with them.

Our colors are a dark brown for the main color with dark purple and burnt orange as accent colors, fyi.

Definitely choose a neutral color (silver seems to be the best option) and let them pick their own.

I vote silver, as well! I think a metallic shoe would give your dresses a fun pop

DSW is a place that is mentioned a lot on here, you may wanna try that. Otherwise dept. stores and stuff probably have a lot of options now since prom season is coming up!

Just throwing this out there, but is the wedding on grass?  Heels might not be fantasic (sinking in the grass).  You might also consider some little ballet flats.

Ooo, good point about the grass thing. The ceremony itself isn't on grass, but there will be plenty of walking on grass. And ballet flats would be super comfy! Thanks!

It's super easy to PIP now. Just save a pick to your desktop and then click on that little tree that you see under the message, browse for the picture, and then save it!

I like the last pair of silver flats that bimbi posted, they are still opened toed so they don't look so much like "slippers."

I don't know if you already mentioned this but are your dresses floor length? or tea length?

The dress above, if it worked, is one of the dresses. They would all be that same knee length. The color is a bit darker in person I think.
