Do cakes really cost this much??!!

Okay, I have no clue what the "Average" price of a wedding cake for 100 people should be. Is $450.00 around that price rage? is that "Normal"? My next question is does anyone know of any good cake makers in the Columbus area?

I think that price is on the high end of things. Depending on what you are looking at for your cake, you can get it for less. I think we estimated $300 for a cake for 150, but I cannot for the life of me remember where we got that number. We're using the baker that's included in our reception so I don't know a price per slice, but here's one that I actually found listed- http://www.cakescreativelybycrystal.com/cakemenu.html

We're using http://carriescakeboutique.com/ and what I've tasted is delious. If you're going to spend $4.50 a slice- go with the Suisse Shop- it's got amazing cakes (which is probably why it's $4.50 a slice).

I also know that if you want to cut back on costs there's a lot of options ranging from using grocery stores (Giant Eagle and Costco both have surprisingly good cakes) to sheet cakes.

Anita Kline and Enticing Icings are some that are frequently mentioned around here and have some of the lower prices.  We ended up using Bella Luna based on one of the delicious flavors and her design. :)

  • Anita doesn't have a website--she is so good, all her "marketing" is word of mouth and referrals.

Make sure you contact her early she books up fast!
  • We are using Short North Piece of Cake and our cake is like $750 for 230 people. It was delicious and they are really nice to work with.

  • Wedding cakes are very expensive, but it all depends on who you go with and what you want. If you can keep it fairly basic, then it won't be as much.
