Plus sized petites in MPLS area?

I'm going to Minneapolis with my mother to help her shop for her dress for my wedding.  She's 5'2" and plus-sized.  Does anyone have store recommendations for petite-style dresses in plus sizes for under $300?  Thanks in advance!

Mall of America would give you a bunch of choices all in one place. You might be able to find something at a department store, or there's always places like Lane Bryant. Otherwise, I would suggest a Kohl's, there's one just a couple minutes down the freeway from MOA in Bloomington.

I know those are kind of generic, I don't do a whole lot of shopping at boutiques or specialty stores...

Try Mary Kay's Bridal on Excelsior in St. Louis Park.  I met Mary Kay a while ago, and she said that they have dresses for all different body types, and alterations can do wonders.  In fact, my mother sounds to be about the same size as yours, so we are planning to visit Mary Kay's at some point.  Also, I wonder if Dress Barn carries petite plus?  JC Penney does, but on their website they only have one petite plus dress.  Dana's, which has a few locations, may be another option.  Good luck and please report back on what you find!

Nordstrom at the MOA!  My Mom is right around that size and found LOTS of options there she loved.

Nordstrom's x 3!  My mom found BOTH her dresses for my sisters wedding and for mine there.  Great alterations department too.

I know that Dress Barn has plus sizes. Not sure if they are petite either, but surely worth a try. My mom and I both found awesome stuff there for wedding-related events.

Dayton's (Macy's) has a good selection, too, either at MOA or the Rosedale store.  The one in Southdale has their plus section in a separate store, though it's still in the mall.  I'm about your mom's size (same height and plus sized), and I get almost all my dress-up clothes at Dayton's (Macy's).  Another option, if you're going to be in the MOA vicinity, is Avenue, which is in the Southtown strip mall at 494/Penn.  Some of the clothes tend to the more casual, though, and I know nothing about their dresses.

And if you've got the money to spend, which it sounds like you do, Nordstrom is fabulous.  They've got a sale going on for the next week which, from what I saw on Thursday, was incredible.  I just got a high-end designer handbag for 1/2 off.
