Reception sites with outside catering options?

Hey ladies!   I just got engaged 5 days ago and am realizing how much work I have ahead of me.  I'm hoping to find a reception venue for an early spring wedding reception that allows an outside caterer to come in to the venue.  I really want to have a smaller restaurant that is near my home do the catering, as it will save $$, be delicious, AND is the first place we went to on a date.

But I can't seem to find anything except places with preferred or exclusive catering deals.

Help?

Congrats on the engagement!

My two suggestions are for more off-beat places, but I think they are both great and unique and amazing.

The place we were going to do ours: Upper Cut Boxing Gym in NE mpls.
And the place we are doing ours: Old Arizona Theater in S Mpls

It takes some looking but there really are a lot of places out there that offer you the luxury of having the food you really want at your own wedding! Good Luck.

We're doing ours at the Village Hall at the Little Log House in Hastings. It's a beautiful space with 40-ft timbers and wrought iron chandeliers, and outside caterers are completely fine.

It's also not too bad in price: $1400 for a Saturday and an additional $300 to do your ceremony in their beautiful garden, or $500 to do it in the on-site chapel/church.

I had a friend that got married at the Five event center in minneapolis, and you can use any licensed caterer there - plus it is a super funky space. I am still looking for an outdoor location, but FIVE is on my list if that doesn't happen.

I'm jumping in on this a little late, but I have to 2nd FIVE Event Center in Uptown. You can bring in any licensed caterer, including restaurants, and it's an awesome venue.
