Grand Palms Event Center

Hello, we are in the process of picking out a reception venue. Has anyone had/ or been to a wedding at the Grand Palms Event Center in Chaska, MN? If so, please give me your open thoughts about this place. Thank you

Re: Grand Palms Event Center

  • I haven't been to an event there, but I'm originally from Chaska. The part of town it's in is not the greatest. There was a girl on here who at the last minute changed her venue to Grand Palm over Dahlgreen Golf Course, also in Chaska.

Was the location like sketchy or what do you mean by not the greatest? I'm not from the area so I don't know much about the good and bad places. We are having our ceremony at the Woods Chapel, just need to find a reception venue relatively close.

I live maybe about a mile from Grand Palms. It's not the NICEST part of town, but it's really not that bad. I mean, I wouldn't at all be concerned for my safety or anything like that. It's an older and not as "fancy" I guess part of town, and you'll probably have a few drunks walking around outside downtown past 11 or so (I know they just opened a restaurant upstairs a few months back) but again, I wouldn't be concerned about getting like...shot or anything lol.

For what it's worth, a friend of my mom's had her daughter's reception there a year or so ago and said they did a good job, however this is also 3rd hand testimony so I take no credit for it. Good luck :)
  • Yeah I wouldn't be concerned about getting shot, lol. But yeah, there are a few bars in that part of town so there would be some drunkies around later at night. I'd definitely drive down there and get a tour if you haven't already.

As far as other reception venues go, I guess I'd also consider having your reception at Woods Chapel just so people don't have to go anywhere. Also look at places around Lake Minnetonka too (if you can find any that won't charge an arm and a leg)- that'd be closer than for people to drive from Orono to Chaska.

  • My friend had her reception at Grand Palms. It was set up very tastefully but was a little cramped with a lot of people. There really isn't that much parking either, but getting there early we could park in the back lot. As harr0610 said, it's not a dangerous part of town, just the older part of Chaska so not as fancy as the upper part of Chaska.
