Farmer's Market Flowers

In an effort to save a penny, we are pondering getting our centerpiece flowers ourselves at the farmer's market.  We are going for a very simple look in a blue mason jars, but are wondering if anyone has had luck with this!

I live out of state, so I'll be sending my mom to do some recon. :)  Where/when are farmer's market's in the area?

We did the flowers for my brother's wedding ourselves and purchased them at the MPLS farmer's market.  We used Market Flowers ( http://www.marketflowersmpls.com/index.html) and they were wonderful to work with.  You can preorder the flowers to guarantee they have them the week of the wedding and even make up the bouquets in their warehouse a few days before the wedding and they will store them until the day of the wedding if you want.  Otherwise, there are many other vendors to choose from (http://www.mplsfarmersmarket.com/vendors.php).
  • That's awesome!  Thank you for the info!

A woman from my work had her wedding on a Saturday, and they just stopped by the Minneapolis Farmers Market after getting their hair done and loaded up on flowers! It seemed to work well for them. The flowers were super bright and pretty! Does seem a tad risky, but also pretty fun!

  • My girlfriend got married in September last year and she went to the farmers market to get flowers for her centerpieces.  She also used limes, here are some pictures:

  • We're using Petersen Flowers for bouquets and some filler flowers for the reception.  They have a stand at the farmer's market but also have a shop in Minneapolis.  Vicki is awesome to work with.  She was really good about letting us know the best flowers to use that would get the look I wanted but were also cost effective.  I didn't want to spend a lot on flowers and I was very excited about the quote we received.
