Old Arizona?

My FI and I took a tour of Old Arizona in Minneapolis today and LOVED it.  We are both actors so the space felt very appropriate for us.

Has anyone ever used Old Arizona or been to a reception there???  We'll  be having a church ceremony but are considering the space for the dinner/dance reception.

I hope someone has some feedback!  Thanks :)

Is that the theater?  I believe that qston (sp?) had her wedding there last year!  I don't think she's on the boards as much now, but maybe she'll happen to be by!  Britt from Render photography shot her wedding.

Yeah, qston's the only Old Arizona bride that I can think of... but I do remember she absolutely LOVED her choice! I think if you wanted a 'traditional' looking reception, you might have a lot of decorating on your hands... but if you want something quirky, I think it's an awesome, awesome venue.

Not too much of the venue itself for the reception, but you could probably PM her for more info.

Hey ladies... Sorry, yeah, not on the boards any more, but I was alerted to the post :) If someone PMd me, I don't ever get those alerts!

I did love Old Arizona SO so much. We had both our wedding and reception there. We did a smaller ceremony with just family in the courtyard, under the trees, and then had about 150 guests for reception. We had it in August, so were able to take advantage of the nice garage door opening to the courtyard, and had the bar set up in the courtyard, and people spilled nicely between the two spaces.

Darcy and Elizabeth were wonderful to work with, I can't say enough about how easy and accomodating they were, and how special they helped our day become.  We opted for the two day rental, as we were doing all the set up ourselves, and I would highly reco that option. You do have to coordinate all the rental of chairs, tables, etc, but that can be done pretty cheap and painless. (we worked with Tim at Ultimate Events and it was easy-peasy)

Holler if you have any more specific questions. I am happy to help.

  • We recently had our wedding and reception at the old arizona theater. The venue itself is very beautiful. We wanted a unique venue and not just the cookie cutter ballroom venue. We had both our ceremony and reception here. Our day was fantastic. However, the one thing that ruined our day were the owners Darcy and Elizabeth. They were perfectly friendly when we were signing the contract and giving them our money. But once we did that they changed. They kept changing the rules on us. For example, they said we could move everything out of the courtyard to make room for the ceremony but then the day before the wedding, they changed their. Indus and said no we could not do that actually. They were rude to our guests! At one point they actually yelled at our guests for moving something that was covering a vent since it was such a hot day. I was shocked when I found this out from my family. All of our guests said it was a beautiful wedding but the two owners ruined the wedding for them. When we were signing the contracts they said we could clean up the next day, this changed as well. During the reception one of them told me that I had to have everything cleared out that night. So I was in my wedding dress rolling away chairs and tables as our guests were dancing. They told my husband that there were too many people there and that the caterers were running out of food but when he checked with the caterers they said they were perfectly fine and that we had a ton left over. Overall, the experience was very mixed. The fact that they were rude to our guests sat extremely uneasy with me. If given the chance I would have booked somewhere else. The day would have been perfect if not for them.
