Shellac Q

For those of you that have done it, what is the best way you have found to remove it?

TIA

I am getting them done on Thursday...but my friends that have had them done said the best way is to go back to the nail salon and have them soaked off...otherwise it ruins your nails to pick them off.

</div><div>As much as I loved how long Shellac lasted, I don't know that I'd do it again-it ruined my nails and took a good 2 months to fully grow out and repair themselves.  Definitely don't pick at it-but when it starts to "chip", it doesn't really chip, but lifts off in sheets, taking off the top layer of your nail.  As soon as it starts to wear off, I'd go in and have it removed by the salon.  </div>

yeah I need to have it done in the next day or two since I am back at work. I will go in to the salon and have them take care of it.  Thanks!

If you want to remove it yourself, try soaking a cotton ball in nail polish remover, then lay it on your nail and wrap the tip of your finger in a tin foil square. Leave them for about 10-15 mintues and you'll be able to scrape the polish right off. This is exactly what they do at my nail salon. HTH!

Your best bet for removing Shellac is to soak your nails in an acetone nail polish remover (the acetone being the key part) for about 10 minutes. Then use an orange stick to gently push the shellac off. The key is not to peel it or force it off as that will do damage to your natural nails. After you have removed all of the polish use a cuticle oil on your nails to replenish some of the moisture removed by the acetone.

    Hope that helps!
