Guest Logistics

I'm just full of questions tonight -- wedding planning on the brain!

I'm wondering...If our reception venue has a max of 180 guests and we want to get as close to that as possible, what is the recommendation for how many people we should invite, assuming a certain percentage will not make it?

Thanks as always everyone!

"They" usually say to plan on about 2/3 of your invited guests to attend.  That can differ if you're inviting mostly close family (plan on a higher percentage) or if it's during a busier time for people (plan on less.)  We want about 140-150 to show up, and we're inviting a little over 200.

    Hope this helps!

Since your venue max is 180, I would invite 180. They may all show up...who knows! You don't want to be in the situation where you invite 200 people and only 10 people say no.... then you have 190 guests but your venue only allows 180.

I agree with PP, don't overinvite and just cross your fingers some won't show! You can always do a "B" list for invites and when you get back RSVPs that say no, you can send out invites to others to replace them.

I think this depends....what is your guest list at with no cuts? Ours is at about 250 but we want a smaller wedding with about 150-160 but our venue can hold 300 people. If we cut our guest list down to more "important" people to get the guest count down, then those are the people that are more likely to come anyway so I feel that the 2/3 rule won't apply as much in that situation, so I really only feel comfortable inviting about 180. Does that make sense? But then again I have heard many brides say that they are really surprised of certain people they thought would for sure come but RSVP with a no.
