Invite addressing question

My dad wants to invite my cousin's girlfriend, which is fine, but I asked if he could find out her name for the invite address. My step-mom's response was that Jeff G--- and Guest would suffice. Is that right? I thought I had read that we should find out names of significant others so their names could be on the envelope.

Also, if it matters, I guess our wedding would be classified as "semi-formal". Not sure if that makes a difference...

Do they live together?  I'm not sure what the rules are but I only included both names if they lived together.  If they didn't, I used '& Guest' even if I knew their SO name...I wasn't sure if the postal service would be confused or not if I addressed it someone who didn't live at that address (and I only had an outer envelope).

Yes, technically you should find out the guest's name if possible, but in this case, I would just let this one go (assuming it is your step-mother's family and she knows that they won't be offended). If it is not your step-mom's family, then I would try and find out the name of the sig other.

Thanks for the advice.

It's my dad's family. I don't think they live together, but I'm not sure. My cousin just got back from Iraq, so I don't actually know where he's staying since he's been out of the country. I know he was staying with his mom when he came home on leave last year, but I suppose I need to figure that out, too. Ugh. I didn't think addressing the invites would be so complicated

ef7310 - I completely agree, the invitation addressing was way more complicated than I thought it would be!  But once they are out, it feels SO much better and super exciting because it's really official then!!
