Registry how-to?

Just curious... we're planning to go to Target tonight to register (and maybe some other places this weekend), and I was wondering what exactly to do.  Just go to the customer service desk and tell them?  Do we have to show ID or anything?
Thanks!

UPDATE:  also, does anyone know where to go at Macys?  I'm not sure if they have a customer service desk or anything like it.  (we'll probably go to Southdale).

Yup, you just go up to customer service & tell them you'd like to register for your wedding.  They'll give you a quick run through of the scanner & whatnot & send you on your way!

If you're going to Bed, Bath & Beyond, be prepared to have someone walk around with you the whole time.  FI & I didn't know they did that & thought it was kind of weird at first, but it was actually really nice & helpful.  = )

Also, don't try to cram to many stores into one day/night.  We were at BB&B for 3 hours when we registered.  We thought we were going to go else where after, but we were to exhausted!

And last... HAVE FUN!!  = )

Macy's does have a customer service, it's usually located near the gift wrap area,  At least that's where it was located when I worked at the Macys in Ridgedale.  Have fun!

We registered at the Southdale Macy's and they were super nice. The registry desk is on the 3rd floor over in the China and Silver department. It's kinda tucked back in the corner, but the person in the china department can direct you over there, if needed.

One thing that helps is to set-up your account online before going to the store. That way they can just pull up your registration, hand you a gun and let you go. Less uncomfortable time making small talk and more time scanning stuff.

We jsut did Target, and we started out at the Kiosks in customer service setting up our account. It then printed out a sheet of paper for the scanner that we took up to the counter and she scanned the paper (so it knew what registry to assign the items to) gave us a scanner, sand we were on our way.

Typically at Macy's their area to begin your registration is near their fine china, home goods. We actually just went to the check out in that area and asked, the women were SO helpful and showed us where to go and what to do!

Target is super easy, but Iagree with Andrea, don't plan on doing 2 stores in a night - Target and BBB were our worst and it actually took us 2 seperate times at Target.. I thought I was going to pull my hair out there and I LOVE to shop!

We registered at the Macy's in Southdale. Their registry consultants are in an area next to the china and crystal and will get you all set up. You don't have to show an ID or anything. You get a free drink from the deli counter too :-)

We didn't have anyone with us at BBB - we went to the Bloomington location, which is the largest store in the metro area.  I'm sure if you tell them you'd rather do it yourself, it would be completely fine!
