Ivory Wedding Dress Questions...

So I'm going to have an ivory dress, pictures below are in white.

I just liked the ivory better the pure white with my skin tone & the feel of the wedding.  But I'm having a hard time figuring out a few things...

Shoes - I know the thing now is to get a color, bur our colors are ivory & brown.  Would brown heels look horrible under a wedding dress?  I haven't gone out to look yet, but I'm just not sure it would look ok.

Nails - I don't want to get acrylic nails.  My own nails grow really well & I have tiny hands, so fake nails always make my hands look weird, (at least to me)!  So do I do a French on my own nails & just not do the pure white tip or do a color all over?  If a color, any suggestions?

TIA ladies!  = )

I also have a "different" white wedding dress color. Well, it is called "oyster". Not sure what that means but it looks somewhat silvery and then sometimes somewhat goldish white. It's weird, but I like it. I don't think that brown would look bad with a wedding dress at all. Brown and white (and shades of white, like ivory) go together.
At least, I see nothing wrong with it.

With nails, I am a poor judge of that because I HATE nail polish with a passion. (It grosses me out to see people with colored nails. I'm weird, I know.) But I do think french manicures (with just the tips colored) look really nice regardless of the dress color.

I just google images brown satin heels and I think the more formal looking ones would be great with the dress!  I am wearing an ivory-ish dress, which does look better on the fair skin tones, and I am wearing red heels (pics in bio if you want to see)

As far as nails, I will not be doing acrylic, but there are several girls on here that have recommended the axxium nail gels, which is basically a differently formulated nail polish that is set by UV lights and doesn't chip. When you want it off, you go in and I believe they soak it off so it isn't as damaging as taking acrylics off.

I plan on having the axxium. As far as colors, my fingers will be a red of some sort, and my toenails will probably have to be just light pink/nude. I don't think I will do french tips on them.

I think brown shoes would look great with your dress.  If it's going to be floor length, they probably won't be that noticeable unless you make a point to show them off.

I hate acrylics and gels, too.  I had them for a couple months in high school, and it was one of the worst fashion decisions I made - ever.  If your nails grow really well already, you could just give them a really high gloss buff and leave them alone.  I'm not into French manicures, my style is more toward pale shades, like near-ivory or very pale pink.  Other colors stand out too much to me and make it look like you're trying too hard.  Nice and neat is the way to go, IMHO.

Nobody really sees your shoes and it looks like your dress has some volume to the skirt as well so you really won't see them!  If you want your shoes to match, you can always have them dyed.

I don't like fake nails either.  I decided to just do a sheer pink color.  They looked "done" still but they weren't standing out like mad in my photos against a pale colored dress.  (which was ivory as well but really really not ivory looking.)

I think brown would look fine for the shoes, also, white for a french manicure is completely fine! No one is going to be comparing your nails to your dress, and if your "ivory" is like mine, it really is just a different shade of white, just not bright white!

I second Brown shoes and the Axxium manicure. I found Nail Montage in Maple Grove to do it the best. Its $35-$40 for the manicure and the soak off is free. I have peeled them off myself and soak off and personally the soak off left my nails cleaner and damage free whereas, peeling them off myself did not.

Yes to brown heals and yes to the Axxium French tip nails!

I did axxium nails for my wedding with french tips and loved them! I also did not have a white dress (mine was called Spun Gold which really just meant darker ivory to me).

I had dark purple shoes too and I loved having the spot of color. It is so much easier to match too.

    Here are some pics!

Here are my nails - I have really funny shaped fingers but they actually didnt look too bad with my hands. (I have close up pics of the Axxium nails in my planning bio too under Bride Attire).

And here are my purple shoes peaking out of the bottom of my dress!

I think brown heels would definatley be fine. Im having blush pink. Are you having any accent colors with your ivory and brown. You could alaways pull a color from your bouquet or BM bouquet if you were not liking the brown.

I think brown shoes would be just fine. Or I've seen some girls on here say that they are doing blue shoes for their something blue- if you want to do a brighter color that's a fun option too. But I think brown would be just fine.
I'd really recommend you try the axxium too. I haven't tried it yet myself, but I do plan on having it for the wedding because it lasts so much longer. I had a french done with a regular manicure once and it literally started chipping the next day, and anytime I have color done with a regular manicure it chips really quickly too. Since it's done on your natural nails it might not look as funny as you think acrylics look- but I'd try it out and see if you like it first.

Thanks ladies!  I've never heard of Axxium before, but I'm definitely going to look into it now!  This was very helpful!!  = )

I have an ivory dress as well and have been looking at a million shoes. Our colors are pink and navy. I considered some hot pink shoes, and bright blue ones for my something blue. My fiance is getting me a dream pair of shoes for my birthday. he spoils me rotten

My dress is ivory also but to me it seems white, it just isn't a bright white. I would say unless it is a really yellow ivory, which doesn't seem real common, you should be fine with any color choices. I agree with the other posts that advised to pick any color shoes. I don't think you have to do brown just because those are your colors. Just find some amazing shoes and go with it! I have a tea length dress and am leaning towards red shoes even though our colors are most likely going to be orange and blue... As long as you love it though it won't matter to anyone else!

As for nails, I was going to try out the Axxium also. I have never had fake nails before, other than the do it yourself variety. I will be trying some different things personally.

Ditto Axxium. I have some negative mental associations with true 'french manicures' (it's a long story...) but I wanted something similar so I went with a sheer pink colored Axxium manicure. The tips of my nails are naturally white enough that it gave the impression of a french nail without the stark white tips. Either way, though, you don't have to obsess over the exact shade of every white-ish thing. It'll be fine regardless.

I'm not a huge fan of brown shoes for ultra formal occasions. I would suggest, as some people already have, picking a third color for your shoes. You could use it in a couple of other places, too... spice up the Ivory and Brown. Personally, my main colors were burnt orange and green... but I was lusting after a pair of purple patent leather pumps (Steve Madden and oohhh-sooo-adorable) so I worked plum into the color scheme. It was definitely less prevalent than orange and green... but looking back I'm really glad I added it.

I wore black shoes with my ivory dress, and think brown would look awesome too!

I did the OPI axxium on my nails for the wedding and really liked it. I personally HATE the way french tip looks (on some people, it looks ok on others). Instead, I just did a very sheer sort of shimmer pink combo (i think it was 2 different colors, but can't remember which), and it looked great. I let my nails grow out just a little bit (not too much, cuz I don't like that either), which resulted in natural yet really nice looking hands haha.

I say the brown shoes could look super cute if you get the right pair.

And I, as well, don't do fake nails.  Mine grow pretty much perfect, and I've thought about this.  If you want to stay away from French tip, I'd go for a sheer shimmery nail color... either in a pale pink, or I have some neat ivoryish ones.  They're colors that make your nails look finished, but not "Woah!  Nailpolish!"

With the brown & ivory we're doing a fall theme, so I might be able to include a darker red or orange shoe too.  I'm just going to go with an open mind & hope I find something I love!  Thanks for all the great idea's ladies!  = )

Wear whatever color shoes you want!  That's one of those things that is so fun, but no one will notice.  My mom was all upset about me having colored shoes but did admit later that she never even saw them. lol

I didn't get fake nails at all.  It was my personal mission to grow my nails and take care of them so I could just french manicure them for the big day.  I was always a nail bitter, so this was a big deal.  I thought they looked great and i was so proud of myself!
