Reception ideas for Minneapolis, MN? Maybe with overnight accommodations...?

Does anyone have any advice on wedding receptions? I'm having troubles finding a good reception place that also has overnight accommodations. The reason we want overnight accommodations is in case people get too drunk to drive home. A lot of people will be commuting 30 minutes to an hour. We want the wedding itself to be outside at a place like Minnehaha Falls or Como Park Zoo or something of the sort.

Thanks!

We did the St. Paul Hotel and it worked wonderfully.

You have lots of options- St. Paul Hotel is really nice, the Graves hotel in Minneapolis I've heard is really nice for weddings.  Pick an area that you are interested in (ie. St. Paul or Minneapolis) and then check out the hotels in the area.  Most hotels do wedding receptions, so you should have quite a few to choose from.

We're hosting our rehearsal dinner at the Westin at the Galleria in Edina and I've heard they also do beautiful receptions.  Our room block is also there, and they gave us a deal on our wedding night suite.  HTH

We had our reception at the Radisson-University Hotel on The U of M campus off of Washington Ave.  It has recently been renamed as just "The University Hotel"  the block room rates were really reasonable as well as the reception halls.

We are using the Crystal Lake Golf Course (which does not have accomadations) but The American Inn in Applevalley has a free shuttle for those staying there that does go to the venue.

This is what we are doing for the drunk drivers.

Try looking at the Earle Brown Heritage Center. It has a good hotel pretty much attached to it. A friend of mine had her wedding there and all the drunkies were able to stumble over to the hotel no sweat after the wedding (me included).

I had my reception (and wedding) at the library in downtown MPLS. There are a BUNCH of hotels within easy walking distance of the library.

If you have a bigger group, try the Ramada Plaza in Minneapolis. They're great to work with, can hold up to 400 people, and their block room rates are $89/night. This might be a little out of your way, but you could also look into Jimmy's in Vadnais Heights. They have lots of good food options for pretty reasonable prices, a garden/gazebo (in summer) and an underground tunnel connecting them to a Holiday Inn.

We had our reception at Windows on Minnesota, which is run by the Marquette Hotel (and is in the same building, the IDS). It was awesome!
