I've been meaning to post pics of the STDs we sent out but haven't had time until now. We sent these out just before Christmas. I bought all the paper from Paper Depot (off Hwy 55 in Mpls), downloaded free fonts from dafont.com, my FI used Adobe Illustrator for the design, a work laser printer for printing (sssshhhh!
) then we had a few friends over for brunch while assembling the STDs. Overall, these cost us $0.47 each including the envelopes!
Our theme is old Hollywood glamour and we wanted different, simple, yet elegant & fun STDs. It's hard to tell in the pic but we went with all metallic paper that has a sheen (our wedding colors are metallics & black) - dark gold, pearl, and the decorative paper with swirls is a champagne with dark gold swirls. I also loved sending these in dark gold envelopes as I thought they were so old-Hollywood! We'll be using all the same colors and paper for our actual invites with the addition of a neat aged-looking movie ticket band holding everything together.
To me STDs aren't that big of a deal but we really had fun designing and putting these together and it was a great trial for our actual invites!
