DJ Help!!!

I have been planning our wedding for almost 6 months now and everything has gone smoothly. All of my vendors have been no-brainers! I met them and knew right away. Unfortunatly, that is not proving to be true for the DJ. I have met with a few - Night Music, Matt Ryan, Encore, Buckeye Entertainment, Level Line Media (btw - has anyone ever used/heard of this one???). I am trying to not bust the budget (maybe under $800) but want to make sure we get a great product/performance. I think it is hard because they don't have much to prove their quality to you, unlike florists or cake bakers who can show pictures.

Anyway, sorry for the rant but please please please send me your DJ references. TIA!!!!

I have heard of a few of the ones you have listed, but have never met with any of them. For us the choice was pretty much a no brainer. We used CoopDog Productions. The owner, Donovan Cooper is a friend and went to hs with my husband's older brother. I think he was even in a band with him a long time ago. I think he was $450 for 4 hours and then $50 thereafter.

He does mostly weddings and plays at clubs on the weekends. He was awesome, we met with him a few times and he did exactly what we asked. He was great to work with and a really nice guy. His partner's name in Jamie. I can't remember if they have a website, but I know Donovan is on FB. I have already given some other ladies on here his contact info, if you would like it, I can PM it to you.

EDIT: I know there have been previous threads about DJ recommendations. You may want to try looking back a few pages to see if you find any info that helps you. I also know a lot of the married girls have vendor reviews in their married bios, so that may be something worth taking a look at. Good Luck!

My cousin used Mega Beat DJ and they were great! We just got started planning so I haven't talked to any vendors yet but I am sure that's who we are going to use. I'm not sure of their website but you could probably google it.

Have you asked if you can attend an event the DJ is doing? We did this with our DJ. We found him through our reception site who highly recommended him. Could you ask your venue who they like working with or who's popular there? I'd recommend mine but he's out of Cleveland, our wedding isn't in Columbus. Good luck!

    Good point!

We also did this with our DJ. We watched him play at a club/bar one night so we could get a feel for his lights, special effects, sound system, etc.

I've worked with Buckeye Entertainment before and they seemed pretty cool. I don't think the bride had any problems with them and they seemed to keep everyone dancing.

We used David with Night Music, and he was excellent! I would highly recommend Night Music - very organized, professional, and David kept the dance floor full all night.  I have a review of my DJ services in my married bio, if you would like to check it out.  Good luck!

Columbus Pro DJs has demos of their DJs on their website. You can click on the DJ and the video clip plays. They are short but it gives you a sense of the DJs personality, voice, etc. They are around $700-$800

We used Jodi from Night Music. She was fabulous. Very flexible, understood our vision for our reception music, and kept the dance floor moving. We received so many compliments about her.

We just met with Ryan Smith, he's great...we're thinking of booking him.
    Good luck!
