Renewing passport with name change?

I'm getting married in October and my honeymoon is 2 1/2 months later.  I'll need to renew my passport since I'll have a different last name.  Can I do this before the wedding date and how can I prove my name will change?  I don't want to wait too long and not get my passport in time.  And when does one change their name with social security, banks, etc.  Can I do this all before the wedding date, too?

If you already have a passport, since it's only 2 1/2 months away and it will take time to get your official marriage license, then you will have to change your name on the passport, I would just wait until after the honeymoon to change your name.

If you want to change your name beforehand or your passport is already expired, and you don't want to pay for 2 of them, then you could either take your chances (mine took about 6 weeks to come in this spring), or you could pay out the wazoo to expedite it and have it within like 2 weeks.

I don't think you can change your name before you get your marriage license (unless you want to pay a ton of money).  If I'm wrong on this, please correct me.

If it were me, I'd either pay to get the passport expedited or wait until after the honeymoon to make any name changes.

This, you may need to have your SS card as well which will also take additional time.
