kegs

Need some expert opinions here...

We're going to Valu Liquors today to reserve our kegs.  We did find lower (not much) prices elsewhere, but PEC will only allow VL to leave and pick-up kegs until the next day.  I don't want to have to worry about dragging kegs out to the car at 2 AM and then driving around with them until Monday.

Question, how many kegs should we get? 2 or 3?  We have an open bar from 5 PM to 2 AM. They do not buy back unused kegs, only bottles.  What do you ladies think?

How many of your 224 are beer drinkers? Could you go a little low on the keg estimate, then get cases just in case?

Exactly what I was going to say. We're providing wine and a couple of signature cocktails in addition to the beer so I have no idea how much of the beer will actually get used up, so I'm trying to talk FI into only doing a couple kegs with back up bottles.

We are providing Beer, Wine and pop (from 4:30pm until 12:00AM)  ... we estimated 250 people to come so we got 4 kegs with a 5th on reserve in case we need it. Our party goes until 12pm but they will not tap a new keg after 11pm. So at 1045/1050 we will evaluate where we are at.
    HTH!

ETA: We got a free keg thrown in otherwise I think we would have stuck with 3 with a 4th on reserve

We went through almost two full kegs (one was completely tapped, and the other was about 1/3 full).  We also went through quite a bit of wine (I don't remember the exact numbers- 25 bottles of red and 15 of white?)  We had only about 80 drinking guests, and we had a Sunday afternoon wedding.  They really only drank from 1p-5p (including lunch.)  That being said, we had quite a bit of 21-24 year olds and it was a GORGEOUS afternoon, so people hung outside drinking beer during pictures.

I'm not sure if that helps at all. haha

We are starting with 2 kegs and a third in reserve. They're through the venue so if the third is not tapped then we will not be charged. They will let me know when they would tap the third and I can see what time it is. It is a Sunday late afternoon wedding so there might not be as much drinking. We expect around 120-130 people.

We're doing 3 kegs for 210 people, only offering full bar during cocktail hour and then wine and beer the rest of the night, 7-midnight.  We can always have more delivered if we run out before the end of the night, but we're hoping to keep it at 3.

We have 3 kegs for about 200 people. Our venue stated that is what is the norm, so we trusted her. We are also serving wine and pop as well throughout the night.

We're inviting 165 with probably about 130-140 in attendance and lot so of beer drinkers.  We are getting 3 kegs and having 1 on reserve.

    Hmmm. I'm thinking 3.
We will also have a limited amount of wine (4 cases of 1.5 liter bottles = approx 216 glasses) and our signature cocktails with Captain Morgan and Vodka, which we will be getting 4-5 1.75 liter bottles of each.

It's hard to say how many beer drinkers there are, I think many may switch to beer after dinner once they start dancing, but who knows?  FI thought 2 would be enough, but after reading your suggestions I think we should do 3. Thanks!

We had 135 adults.  Hosted beer and wine all night (7-12), hosted pop and coffee.  We ended up just about perfect on our quantities.  1 keg of Summit, 1 keg of light (Miller or Mich Golden, can't remember which one) and 35 bottles of wine.   We had another keg of light on reserve but didn't need it.
