DJ Suggestions

Hello!

I am trying to get the names of a few DJ's that people would be willing to recommend. I'd also love a general price if you know it. I would so much rather book based on a favorable review from someone on here...

Thanks!

Well I haven't had my weddng yet so I can't give a reivew, but we are going with Complete Music.  We LOVED the DJ we met with there who was recommended to us by FSIL from a wedding she had attended.    Their price is pretty compareable to the other big DJ companies in the area about $700ish I believe?  (Don't remember exactly because we are paying a higher rate for the DJ we requested because we knew we HAD to have him!)

DJ Jake Rudh. Word of mouth guy. Very much into the Current for musical tastes. He does a show called Transmission at Club Jager in the warehouse district weekly that is more throwback in style.  I like that you can go check him out actually doing his thing without any commitment.  He was $795 for 5 hours, full set up.

We haven't had ours yet...but are deciding between instant request and midwest sound.  We are having a Friday wedding so they are both under $600.  I know Saturday's are more expensive.  I like that we are able to go to there website and do everything online for song choices and to get what kind of DJ we want.  We met with Dave from Neon Express and I wasn't impressed at all.  I see why he only costs $350.  Some people on here have had great reviews with Neon Express..but there are some bad ones too on here. It is all based upon what you guys like.  HTH

We are using Music in Motion (www.musicinmotiondj.com) $550 for 4 hrs plus background dinner music (extra $50). Full system set up and I love that each DJ comes with a back up of everything. They have about 8 back up plans which gave me piece of mind. So come hell or high water we will have music at our reception haha

Instant Request has done an awesome jobs at weddings I've attended so I booked them $595 for unlimited play & suggested $150 tip.

The price I got from Instant Request was about $775 for a sat.. That was just recently. When did you get the $595 quote? Was it for a Friday or Sat? Thinking I may go with them. I was just wondering about where they stood in the range of prices offered from other DJ companies. Seems like it's right there in the avg.

I'm using Instant Request and paid $595, but I think it was because my wedding is next week (off-peak season) and I have a feeling that's why it's not higher...

When's your wedding? I think I got a discount for being in the off-season, getting married on a Saturday but it's in April.  And they also marketed it as being a "special celebration deal" for having won the MN Bride Best DJ award again in 2009.

Neon Express! Just got married yesterday and he was perfect.  I know a few girls on here had bad experiences, but that's only because he was downloading new music while playing on the same system.  He was very good about asking us exactly what music we wanted ahead of time so he could have it all ready.  He was hilarious too, and the perfect announcer.

Plus the best part? We paid $250 for a ceremony, dinner, and reception music. :)

We reserved with Midwest Sound after seeing them at a number of receptions. We got them for $795 for the entire night, but that includes the travel cost of going 150 miles west of the Twin Cities. So our actual price is closer to $645.

I was wondering if it'd be a better experience with someone using them at the PEC since they use the event center's equipment along with their own. I'm glad to hear the good review since I'm booked with them, too! Did you have Marc or Dave, Steph?
