Neon Express Contract?

Did any of you using Neon Express change the contract in any way? There isn't anything saying that Neon Express would be liable to provide another DJ service or a refund if they didn't make it. Should I ask them to include that? Or is their current one just fine? I want to send the deposit and contract out by this week.

We signed a contract with Neon Express... when we met with Dave, I asked him the very same thing you are wondering. What he said is that there are basically two options for that situation. The first would be to have Mark (Marc?)--the other dj--cover for him. If both him and Mark are booked that night, he would call his other friends in the larger DJ business (probably someone like Midwest Sound) and have one of their DJs do the event, while he covers the extra cost that comes with the other DJ companies.

However, I probably should have gotten that all in writing, but he seemed pretty confident that we wouldn't be left music-less.

    Hope that helps.

My advice?  Get everything in writing!  I wish I would have had a timeline to hold my videographer to, but since it wasn't in the contract, I had nothing to fall back on.

I also asked Dave the same thing, and he told me that they had recently found a girl who is still in school who is their back-up DJ and when she finishes school she will join their rotation where they will always have one DJ not working who can cover in case of any mishaps. I think it probably would be a good idea to get it in writing though, even though we didn't...

Just a note about our contract:  The first line states that we agree to proved music & DJ services on the date and for the time you specify.  No “ifs” or “maybes” about it!  I have always felt that was a guarantee, but I am happy to add a reasonable footnote to the contract to promote client peace of mind.  Just give me a call or shoot me an e-mail, even if your contract is already signed.  A relaxed bride is always happier, and our goal is always a happy bride!
