More Checks!

I met with our Florist today and had to share. She was awesome! We are getting married in St. Cloud, MN so we are going with Coborns for our Flowers and Cake. (I love their cakes!)
Dar is awesome! She loved my inspiration pictures and was able to pick out some awesome flowers. We originally were going to do 15 tall centerpieces and 15 small arrangements but when that was out of our Budget she asked us if we had heard of sinking roses? I had no idea what she was talking about so she left us and came back with this....

I took this picture with my Mom's Droid so it's not the best. But her idea cut our bill $500 and put us back in budget. I was so excited. I can't believe she was willing to cut her commission. Anywho so now all we are ordering is 24 roses. Its going to be DIY but I am totally fine with that. :-) If anyone is curious how to make them I can let you know.

How do you do them?? I have a general idea of what I want my centerpieces to be but haven't narrowed down details yet but these seem affordable and it looks great!

Start with a normal rose and cut an inch below the head/bulb
    - Then take a washer and duck tape over the hole.
    - After that cut a small hole through the duct tape (enough for the stem to stick through)
    - Stick the Rose through the hole of the washer
-Place the rose and washer in the Vase
    - Add rock/gems of your choice (ones that don't float)
    - Finally fill up the vase with water. Easy as that! :-)
The florist recommended doing this the night before and letting them soak all night (We are not adding any flowers to the church - So we are going to do these after the rehearsal :-) )

The Florist did mention that the most expensive part of this centerpiece is the vase. But she gave me the insight that Michaels and other craft stores still them for $3-5

She also said if you can afford a taller vase to put a floating candle on top. I dunno what size you went with. But why not share haha

Yeah, the one's I got are taller and I was totally thinking the same thing about doing a floating candle.  I am going to have to give that a try soon!

haha I overplan everything. So don't feel bad. I thought going now would be easier as I could see what flowers would be in season but looks like I was late for a lot of them. But they had pictures which were really helpful.
