Groom Gifts....Bride Gifts

Hey ladies
What are/did you get for your groom for a wedding gift?

I'm trying to get ideas. I know I want to get him cufflinks, and I'm doing a boudior shoot (I think I will be getting my own book printed instead of from the photog). Just wondering what others are thinking or getting.

Also, wha did you get/would you want to get?/

I keep asking FI for ideas, but I haven't gotten any good ones from him. He kinda was like, "really, a gift?" His birthday is also the day we leave for our honeymoon, so it's double the gift giving time.

I like the boudoir pics, but I think I'm too awkward for them! I look forward to seeing your ideas :)

H and I splurged on our HM, so we decided to forego any gifts to each other. Besides, by the time the wedding rolled around, we were pretty much broke.

We aren't doing any gifts either for the wedding because by the time it is all said and done, we will be broke! lol Our wedding and honeymoon is the gift we are giving to each other!

I'm glad you posted this bc I need ideas myself!!  I've had a lot of friends get their FI a nice watch, but I've also heard it's bad luck.  A friend of mine recieved a gorgeous David Yurman ring as her gift, which she was able to show off at the wedding and still wears everyday.  My other friend received diamond earrings.  Guys can't go wrong with great jewelry!  :)  Now just what to get them....?

I am getting my FI tickets to the Browns vs Bengals game..he is kind of picky. I don't really care what he gets me. I'm kind of open.

Diddo on the boudoir shoots, but I have no idea what he will get me.  Like pp said, jewelry is always nice, but I am not picky.  Concert tickets or something down that line might be fun as well.

I'm getting my FI a watch...didn't hear about the bad luck though, has anyone else heard that?

FMIL says she's never heard of bride/groom gifts to eachother and thinks it's silly...but I think we should do it anyway.

I was researching the watch is bad luck thing. I only found that in Chinese cultures it is bad luck to ever give a watch as a present.

Random point on the watch being bad luck in Chinese cultures, white anything ( including gift wrap) is bad luck! Red is the lucky and wedding color!

He always wanted a Movado watch. TJ Maxx actually has them for a few hundred less than the high end jewelry stores. I found one I loved and bought it. $500 vs. $900 at Jared's.

  • Here are some good "out of the box" suggestions if you're stuck and the boudoir thing is not for you:

I like the idea of an activity gift--maybe something for the honeymoon.
