table/linen rental question (+ vent)

I think I found out the demise of my planning a friday wedding.

We are doing a friday night wedding, but have rented our venue an extra day so we can do most of set up on thursday and not be so stressed out on Friday (as we are doing most things ourselves) ... but then I started thinking of rentals, and discovered this may not have been the best idea.

I think if you order for a saturday wedding you have them all weekend while only paying for one day, but wondering if we pick them up on thursday, if we are going to get charged for 3 days since we won't be bringing stuff back until satrday? grrr. Just when I thought we were being smart with our budget!?

Is anyone else having to figure out their own rentals for linens, tables, dishes??
Who are you using?

Check with your reception hall or your caterer about renting through the company they use for their linen service .  You may get a far better price to go that route than rent them yourself and one less vendor to deal with.

If you do end up renting them yourself, just ask for the terms of the rental because some places are for the week...  We worked with Apres' and they had the most reasonable contract of the places we checked, but you've got to do your homework and don't be afraid to negotiate.  There were some places that the contract alone was enough to make your head spin.

My linens are getting set up and taken down by the provider free of charge the day of the wedding.

I think it's pretty rare for vendors to charge you by the day. Most of the time when you rent linens, you get them from Thurs/Fri until Sun or Monday. There isn't a per day charge - just a flat rate. So, I would think you should be fine with getting them Thursday and returning them Sunday or Monday.
