Honeyfund

Hey there!  We just created a Honeyfund for our gift registry.  Any thoughts?  Has anyone tried this?  What was the response you got?  Did guests find it confusing?  I had a friend that did it and she said it worked great.  I just want some more opinions.  Thanks!!

My FSIL did one on honeymoon.com (so we are doing one on there now) and she got about $2000 in gifts from the honeymoon registry. We had a "honeymoon" themed shower and had people get her gifts from that registry rather than the traditional registry and it was a huge hit! Some guests loved it so much that they got her the shower gift and went back on and got her their wedding gift. The guests were all different age groups so it's pretty user friendly, you just click on add to cart and you can personalize a message and pay with a credit card. Hope this helps!

I think it does depend on your guests. I know some people consider this to be tacky...it's basically asking your guests for money that may or may not ACTUALLY be used for your honeymoon (I'm not saying that you wouldn't use it for that, but that is how some people see it). Also, some people think that you shouldn't go on a vacation if you can't pay for it yourself. Personally, I think it is okay as long as you don't mention ANY registry info on your wedding invitations (this goes for whether or not you have a honeymoon registry) AND you also have a traditional registry. Just my personal opinion.

Lots of debate about this on the honeymoon page, BUT I am doing it.  We registered at crate and barrel/target, but are older and own our home already so we don't need much.  We paid for our honeymoon ourselves already, but felt it would be nice to have some extras like special dinner, massages, kayaking, golfing, etc that people can purchase as a gift certificate for us.  Everyone I approached with this idea thought it was so great and felt they could give us something without just giving us money. As far as people using the money towards there actual honeymoon, I think that most people do.  I guess I don't see the difference because most people who don't know what to get you give you cash anyway.  If we were to get cash, it would end up being used on groceries, etc and we wouldn't remember where it all went.   Again always register for the typical things at real stores.  This can be a fun extra registry that people can get creative with and you can use to go on extra splurges on their honeymoon.  Not to pay for it intiallly.  We used the one through our travel agent's website.  Good luck and I think your guests will enjoy the added option.
