Need to decide on Photographers!!!!!

Hello ladies

Here is my issue :
Okay we are on budget so  we are looking for a photographer with a rate no more than 1200..( that's even pushing it ) .. We met with several photographers and Imagen International is one of the top on  the list . But we didn't get a chance to meet with them until I called back this morning and we are meeting next Wednesday .

The problem is , we 've met with a  photographer and we liked him. FI , more than I do though. SO his price is $1000 for one photographer. full day + engagement shoot. $1200 for two photographers same services. We will be getting the right for our photos ,, and a CD no web gallery , no albums etc . I thought it's okay

Now  Imagen , Charges $ 1070 for all day + 2 photo sections of your choice. I'm mot sure yet what you get with that but FI thinks , we don't need to go through another appointment hassle and go with the other guy...But I think we need to find better deal , and better photographer if possible. It's basically the same issue with videorgrapher decision as well ...

Sometimes I feel like he just doesn't want the hassle of meeting with all these vendors and just want us to set with the first one that meets our top requirements even if we can have it for less or better..

Any thought on this ? Am I being too all over the place ?

Thanks ladies

My FI (now DH!) was the same way. I kinda was too sometimes actually :) For example with the cake, we went to Buttercream first with the intentions of checking out other places, but liked Buttercream so decided to skip going anywhere else. That was late in our planning though, so we were a little sick of decisions by then. Our cake was FABULOUS, but budgetwise we probably should have checked out some other places.
I'm with you though, I think it's a good idea to check another photographer out, it can't hurt. From what I've heard, Imagen is definitely worth checking out. I'd say if you have the time, you might as well. Even if you still go with the first guy, at least that way you can be more confident with your decision. My thought is, when you're spending that much money, you want to make sure of your decision!

Thank you ! Believe it or not , it was basically the same thing when we first visited Queen of cake ..the good thing was ,her price was one of the affordable ones and we looooooooved her samples . They tasted so good ! She was so willing to make us happy , so it was easier. So I agreed when he suggested we did not need to look else where :)
Now with our place PEC it was the first place we went to in the process of planning . It was a bit out of our budget , but we both were in love with that place , and were willing to make the sacrifice ONLY  in case we do not find anything not even close to it and dramatically cheaper...So I kept looking for places days and nights , But I happened to figured my dear FI has already set his mind on that place and kept laughing at me , when I say something like , " I found this place but ..." and he  will go " Honey do yourself a favor a quit looking ..." you know . LOl

We'll will definitely meet with Imagen .  I don't want to sound cheap by looking for better deals  , but I'm looking for the best of both world.

    Thank you for input!

the photographer is definitely not the place to make a quick decision.  Do lots of researching and meet with a lot of different photogs.  You want to feel very comfortable with that decision because the pictures are all you'll have left once the day is over.  We made a quick decision right at the beginning of our planning and I wish we would've looked around more..

FYI We are using Imagen and their package sounds very similar to the other photographer you are considering: All images edited on a DVD with all rights to them, 2 photogs all day, no albums. They also told us they define "all day" however we want to define that. Many photographers say "all day" but they really mean all day up to 8-10 hours, but Imagen told us that they recently did an 18 hour day for a wedding.

krisigiles- we also went with Imagen on a kind of snap decision, but it looks like that maybe didn't work out the best for you...can I just ask if there is something we should be careful about? I think my PM works if you're more comfortable with that instead of posting and you are willing to share. :)

I would look at the other photographer. They may have similar prices but style might be two very different things. I know for my photos were a very important thing for me and I go back and look at our photos all the time, you really want to make sure you do some research so you know you will love them! I made the mistake on a few other things by going with the first thing I saw because I liked it, but better stuff always ended up coming around. I will also add if you are looking to save on money I would suggest not getting the album. You are limited to the amount of photos and if you want to go back and edit some of your own photos you can't. I made my own on mypublisher.com with as many photos as I wanted! They are almost always having sales so you can get good deals. I know Shutterfly also has an album option as well.

Honestly I would check out EA Photography. We used her for our pictures and loved her, and she is offering 10% off your package right now....meaning you can get what those other packages are offering for less than $1000....just saying. Plus she is awesome to work with. She was so easy to be around and made our pictures look so natural and not so posed.
