Minnesota-Minneapolis and St. Paul

Ceremony venues

I keep going back and forth about our ceremony venue! We originally planned to just have the ceremony at the PEC but my parents have offered to pay the difference for another ceremony place. We looked at Fort Snelling Chapel (posted about it before) but we decided the open time slot wasn't right for us.

So anyways, we're looking for somewhere in/near Minneapolis, indoors, open for ceremonies around 2pm or later, can fit 200-250 people and is under about $800 or so (preferably around $500-600). It's going to be tough to find something still open but if you have any suggestions, please let me know! Thanks!

Re: Ceremony venues

  • Weisman Art Museum maybe? It's on the East Bank of the U of M campus.

I was hoping this one would work out but it looks like it's $1900 and we can't have the ceremony until after 5 apparently :-/ Thanks though!

  • I had to email them for the pricing. Ugh, this is frustrating, every place I find is either like $1000+ or they want you to have a reception there too. Anyone have any other suggestions? Anything at all?

  • Have you checked out City Hall?  I'm not sure how much they are, but I think they will allow just a ceremony.  Otherwise, what about the glass dome at the Millenium hotel in downtown.  Again, I don't know the exact price.  Are you willing to do a church? There might be some that would allow a ceremony for less than $1000.

From what I could tell, City Hall doesn't rent the rotunda unless you're having your reception there too. I did email them to find out though, so waiting to hear back on that. I hadn't seen the Millennium hotel - that's gorgeous! I just emailed them for more info, thanks for that suggestion!

We aren't totally opposed to a church but I guess we feel a little odd getting married at a church when we don't belong to one. My mom had suggested checking out the church I used to go to in high school, but I don't even know anyone there anymore so I don't know. I'd LOVE to get married at the church I was confirmed in (St. Paul Cathedral) but apparently one of us needs to be a practicing Catholic (I was confirmed Episcopalian) and be registered at a parish, which we aren't. Lame! Haha.

Update: I contacted the Millennium Hotel and I seriously have the worst luck. They will be CLOSED from like Dec-April for renovations! Ugh! Thought I had finally found something good :-(

  • I have the SAME problem. I think I will settle for the ceremony at PEC incase of a messy snow storm. I wanted Millenium as well, and they are closed for a remodel :(
