Question after the unity candle is lit...

What do you do? Do you wait until the song is over?  We are not having anyone sing just a cd play... Do you sway in place seems a little awkward. Any song suggestions?  Thanks guys

I would fade out of the song. I went to a wedding last year where the bride really wanted to hear the whole song. Which would've been fine if it were someone singing, but you're right, it was very awkward. Plus it was a dumb song; the bride has bad taste in music. But to each her own, I guess.

We're having someone sing ours and we're just letting the whole song play out. It might be slightly more awkward if it weren't live music

We had a piano version of "Bless The Broken Road" played and when we were done with the candles, she slowed down whatever verse she was on and faded it out naturally...it sounded like it was supposed to be that way...but she is a very talented pianist (a family friend), so she knew what she was doing!

I would maybe suggest whoever is controlling the music fade it out, after the current verse or chorus is done.

We're having someone sing as well, so she will finish the song.

Our plan was to have roses set by the unity candle for each mom, we would give them to them after we lit the candle, and hug all of our parents. Whoever was in charge of placing the roses there forgot to do it so we didn't get to do that but we still hugged our parents, which was a really neat moment.

You could do that or you can talk to the wedding planner at your reception site about fading the music, like pp's said. A wedding I was in had singers but they played the whole song and the bride and groom just stood there and stared at each other, very awkward and long moment haha.
