Minnesota-Minneapolis and St. Paul

Engagement Pictures in St. Paul

Hi Ladies- First time on this board.  I live in the cities, but am getting married in Philly so I spend most of my time on that local board.  Any who, I am looking for some suggestions.

We are not from the cities and don't plan on living here forever, but want to be sure to incorporate MN in our "history" so we have decided to do engagement pictures here and do a session in Minneapolis and a Session in St. Paul.  The session in Minneapolis is easy, we chose the typical Stone Arch bridge, but I am struggling with St. Paul.  I would love to be able to capture the city skyline but also want a more lush garden feel.

Does anyone have any good recommendations for St. Paul...thanks in advance!!

  • Rice Park or Harriet Island.  If you want any indoors, I'd check out the Landmark Center.

    Como Park is also good.
  • We did all of ours in St. Paul and did them on Harriet Island as well as outside/inside the History Center.  They turned out great!

  • I would second the Rice Park & Harriet Island. To get a view of the skyline, you could try and get some pictures near the Cathedral -- it is on a hill so it might get some of the skyline there. Grand Ave would also make some cute pictures. Like PP said, Como Park has a lot of greenery that you could take pictures around too.

  • There is this tiny park near the University Club on Summit that could work.  You could totally do Harriet Island or Como outside too.  Depending on when you want to do the pics, I've seen some darling State Fair ones too!
  • totally take pictures at Mickey's on 7th and maybe Como Park or on the grounds of the State Fair?
  • Thanks Ladies!!! Great suggestions!!

  • I live in Saint Paul and we did ours by our condo on Shepard Road, basically down the hill from the Excel Energy Center. There is a little park/sculpture garden with trees and water fountains. Its right next to the Caribou on Spring Street. We were able to get amazing photos with the skyline without the river in between. Hope that helps =)
