Salons in NE Mpls

I'm starting my search for a day-of salon for hair and makeup. I want to keep it cheap for my girls. Our ceremony is at Nicollet Island, so downtown or Northeast would be best. I already contacted Smart and Chic, but I want some other places to compare. Any ideas?

It might be too far away for you since it's more NW and I'm not sure where you are starting your day from...but I'll still throw it out there :)  I would recommend Kally Lily in Coon Rapids.

I went with them because overall, it was cheaper and I only paid $50 for my hair and makeup trial run (full price for both will be $110 for me).  If I remember correctly, S&C was full price (or almost full price) for the trial run.  Also, I'm paying for half of the updos for 8 people, so the slightly cheaper updo price, plus my reduced trial, added up to a good chunk of savings in the end.  Plus, I already go there for waxing and cuts.

My normal hair stylist is Mel at Ficocello's in St Anthony - LOVE her.  She did the hair/makeup for my brother's wedding a did a great job.  My SIL was a total wreck that day and Mel was the sweetest person helping her calm down and taking her outside for air :)  Can't remember the price for the bride, but for me as a bridesmaid I paid $75 BUT that was 3 years ago... I ended up going with Smart and Chic only because of the size of my WP (7 BM, 3 FG, MOB) if it were a smaller party I would have stuck with Mel - I am having her dye my hair before the wedding cause I don't trust anyone else!

Check out Shear Genius Salon.  It's more north St. Paul area, but I think Kim said she'd be willing to travel.  She did my hair (and my mom's and a BM's), and I was extremely pleased with the results.  Info in my bio under vendors.

Although not close to NE Mpls, the Ficocello's Academy on the corner of Randolph & Snelling in St. Paul is very reasonable.  They stylists have their licenses but are at the academy getting further training.  I think for my sister's wedding 2 yrs ago it was around $40/person.
