How many guests do you anticipate? The easiest way to cut significant costs with the reception is to cut your headcount.

Try the Profile Event Center.  It's a great place!

Treasue Island Resort and Casino -- we are having both our ceremony and reception there. The reception venue fee is waived because we plan on meeting the minimum food requirement of $2500. Plus -- the bride and groom get a complimentary suite the night of their wedding. I know it's not in the TC area, but so far it's been a great venue to work with! :)

Olympic Hills Golf Club quoted me less than that for a reception for 125-150 in the off-season.  It did not include liquor, though.

What part of the Metro are you looking for?

Like PP said, you could start by keeping your guest count low.  Also, would you consider a Friday or Sunday wedding?  We saved a significant amount by having a Fri wedding.

We're getting married at The Mermaid in Mounds View.  Our wedding is this Friday the 1st so I can't really give you a full review yet, but I can tell you they've been great to work with and we have a lot of things included that other venues don't offer.

Ultimately you have plenty of time.  Just keep your eyes and ears open and visit a few different places and see what clicks with you.

    Good luck!!

Ditto Profile.  Our minimum (including rentals) for a Sunday in November is $2950 or something.  We'll end up going over (our list is 250), but it's really reasonable.

Do you specifically want a venue where food prices are included in the rental? My wedding is at the Historic Courthouse in Stillwater... and the rental only includes renting the space. They essentially give you free reign over vendors and other details, so it's much easier to shape your own priorities in the budget. I found that almost every place we looked at with that all-inclusive sort of vibe was more expensive overall than doing everything separately... but if you want the ease of not having to pick caterers, etc yourself... that's a different story.

Try River Oaks or Mississippi Dunes - both are golf courses in Cottage Grove.

Check out our reception venue: Royal Cliff Banquet Hall in Eagan. It is very large banquet hall that is family-owned and operated that has wonderful food :) And it is really reasonably priced compared to other venues in the area!

    Hey,

If you get married on a Friday, check out Profile Event Center. The food min is 3750 in Feb. and it's a beautiful place. We're doing ours there this summer.

Check out the Rosemount Steeple Center.  Someone mentioned it the other day.  It's an old church converted into a banquet hall.  You can bring in all your own vendors, which could end up being a huge savings.

Keep in mind that you can cut costs in other places to make more $ available for the reception portion if you need to. Skip flowers, skip programs, skip menus, skip favors, get a cheaper dress, no bridesmaid bouquets, etc. etc. Saving in these areas can give you more wiggle room for providing food and drink for your guests :)

<div>You can only serve beer and wine at the wash county courthouse (you provide the beverages and need to have somebody serve them to guests, doesn't need to be a licensed bartender)</div>

Be careful with Casinos - my dad is a director at one and even though we would get the place for a steal, he forbid it.  He said he has seen too many crying brides because their party hits the casino instead of the dance floor.  Depends on you crowd though!  We went with the Steeple Center in Rosemount - VERY affordable.
