Honeymoon Destinations!

This was posted on my month board and I wanted to see where you ladies are going!

We're going to Cancun Mexico to the Sun Palace! My mom gave us a week of her RCI timeshare, so all we need to pay for is the transfer fee, all inclusive fee, and of course plane tickets! With the all inclusive with get free food, drinks, and also free excursions which seem to be really expensive at the other places we looked at. We are super excited, going in September, going on the Monday after the wedding. Hoping for no hurricanes!!

Plus if we prepay our all inclusive fee than we can get 30% of golfing, 25% of spa, and two for one dolphin swim!! Both of us are SO excited that, we LOVE dolphins!! In fact I wanted to be a dolphin trainer in the Minnesota Zoo when I was little, then grew up to be a financial advisor... how things change!

Neither of us have been to Mexico, I'm looking forward to exploring a bit, relaxing on the beach, and having my mimosas in the morning!

So where are you going? What are you most excited about!

Neither FI or I are big beach people so it's been hard to find somewhere in our budget. We REALLY want to go to Italy, but we'll see if we can afford to make that work...

Maui!  My FI has been to the big island many times as a child and wanted to take me there...so we decided to go to the island he hadn't been to yet.  We are VERY excited to relax, take the road to Hana (sp) , see some waterfalls, and get some much needed alone time.  We are thrilled!

I posted on the September 2010 thread too, but i'm super excited about our HM so I'll answer here too :)

We're going to Costa Rica, leaving the Monday after the wedding. Spending 2 nights in San Jose at a B & B, 2 nights in an off-the-beaten-path beach town and 3 nights in a casita near the Arenal volcano. Looking forward to the amazing scenery, incredible hikes and some relaxation. We wanted an adventure and I think we'll get it!

FI and I SO wanted to go to Italy and Greece, make a big two week deal of it, but we decided to put that on hold, we don't have the funds for something that grand or the ability to take that much time off. The compromise, take that trip before little ones come along, hopefully three years will give us enough time to save for it!! But I'm still very excited about our alternative!

We are going to Disney World and couldnt be more excited! We are both kids at heart and I can see us both getting into all the rides and getting signatures from the characters. We are also not sit on the beach kinda people - we get bored pretty easily - so this will be tons of activity which is perfect for us. We are doing the meal plan too and staying in a Disney resort so pretty much the ticket price is what we are paying - no need to bring extra for transport and food - although I am sure we will bring some for some snacks and souvenirs.

I am prolly the most excited for our breakfast in Cinderella's Castle if I had to name just one part! Cant wait!

We are going to the Abbey Resort and Spa on Lake Geneva.  We wanted to go someplace we could bring our boat with us.  We are both very active people and could not justify paying excursion fees to go on a boat when we have a nice one in the garage.  Plus, we didn't want to leave the area when the weather will be so nice.  We are leaving the Sunday after our wedding and going for six days.  Then we will come home for the 4th of July weekend and head up north with some friends.  I am SOOOO excited to get away just the two of us after the wedding.

We've already done a beach vacation (Cozumel) this year, and we'll be doing another one in March of next year, so we decided to not do a beach honeymoon.

Italy/Slovenia/Croatia was our goal, esp. because we're planning on starting a family in 2011 and it was on my "do before becoming a parent" list. But we don't have 2+ weeks to devote to the trip and we have other big expenditures like buying a new car and building a deck.

So... we're down to three choices:

    1. Northern California (San Francisco, Pacific Coast Highway and the central coast wine region)
    2. Fly into Phoenix, stay a few days at the Boulders outside Scottsdale, then road trip (Mustang convertible!) through Monument Valley to Durango, CO then down to Santa Fe for a few days
    3. Quebec, QC

Right now we're thinking Cali, though I really love the road trip idea and I really want to see Monument Valley. I think Quebec City could be a long-weekend trip in the future.

Costa Rica for 12 days.  Leaving the Sunday after the wedding, 1 night at a San Jose B&B, 4 nights in Arenal, 5 nights in Uvita, and 1 more night at the San Jose B&B (those are so we don't have to rush to get to the plane).  SUPER EXCITED.

FI and I have been talking about if we want to take our honeymoon right away or wait a few months.  We're getting married in September 2011 and I know that it is right during hurricane season.  Our last vacation was in Las Vegas and, while we had fun, it was so busy and tiring.  We definitely agreed that we need a good, relaxing, beach vacation where we won't feel bad if we nap during the middle of the day or laze away by the water.  Otherwise FI might be interested in a cruise, which I would be open to as well.

We decided to wait and save up for our dream vacation.  In September, we'll be spending two and half weeks in Sydney and New Zealand!  Great restaurants, zoos, trains, dolphins, glaciers, spas, caves, horseback riding, and spending the night on an overnight cruise in the fjords.  I can't wait!

We are not sure where we will go. I'd like to go down to the Caribbean and do a nice beach vacation. Like Anguilla, Mustique or St. Lucia.

My sister however went to Jade Mountain in St. Lucia and WOW is all I have to say. To bad for us, we wont be able to afford it. It's either there or the wedding...hmmm??

TURKS & CAICOS!!! SO excited :)  We're going for 11 days, 10 nights. We'll be on Grace Bay, which has been named the most beautiful beach in the world.

We're taking a mini-moon right after our wedding to Bluefin Bay, and then the full honeymoon in T&C will be in January (after hurricane season is done)!

I'd always dreamed of Disney World, but FI detests the idea, so we are off to Riviera Maya. Still not sure which resort, though.

We got engaged in Cozumel, so we've already done the beach vacation.  It was lovely, and something we really want to do again, but decided to do something extra special for the honeymoon...so we decided on Paris.  We leave two days after the wedding (which means a week from tomorrow!!!!)  I'm SO excited.

And, like Danielle, I am a huge Disney fan, so we'll be going to Disneyland Paris one day.  :)
